Preset pool trig mode not working [resolved]

Using [FUNC] + [DOWN] I select the preset pool trig mode. All trig buttons just triggers the current tracks preset, while I expect each trig button to trigger a preset from the preset pool. What is going wrong here?

Anyone an idea on this? Contacted elektron support without response.

Are the triggers you are pressing yellow ? … (yellow in preset pool trig mode indicates an entry from the pool)

No, they are not lit up at all in preset pool mode. In retrig mode I get them in orange, velocity mode in red.

Check if you have actually presets in your pool… I mean this straightfoward

When I press shift and turn the level knob to access the preset pool I see it is filled with A:001 till A:130

If there are 130 of them, you’re looking at all the saved sounds.

The preset pool (128 slots) can be viewed from the kit/sound menu (the music note with lines under, next to settings button).

From a preset or kit in that menu, you can select and press the left arrow to add it to the pool. It’s one of the harder features to find on the machine.

yes, this.

also this :expressionless:

You’re not accessing the pool there, it’s Bank A of the Preset sounds - it’s Func not Shift btw !

If you go into grid edit mode and hold a lit trig down and turn the Level/Data encoder ( no [FUNC] required ) then the system will offer preset pool sounds (if available) - but if you select a blank slot the system will invite you to select from your preset sounds on the +Drive from any bank, A thru H for that slot - that’s a simple way to populate the preset Pool when you need a sound … this will in turn mean you’ll see yellow lit trigs when you scroll down to Preset Pool Mode which you can play directly into a track in Live Rec Mode

An alternative is to use the grid rec way described above which may give you more control.

It’s easy to fill the Pool up with sounds from any Bank using the sound manager too - but it makes more sense to add the sounds you would like in the pool to a Bank e.g. H and put your favourite sounds there if you think they should be part of the pool in multiple projects - then for each new project just copy bank H into the Pool to get the Pool populated and manage what you need from there and add manually etc for project specific preferences

Page through your Preset Pool sounds if you have more than 16 in it

This all looks useful to me (DT noob) but I can’t reproduce this on DT2.

So you mean

  • grid edit mode and hold a lit trig down
  • see preset pool sounds (empty in my case)
  • scroll to empty pool slot

Then select how ? Releasing the trig (as suggested by manual 10.8.2) on an empty slot does nothing. Has this changed from DT to DT2 or something ? I have no experience of the OG DT.

Release when on an empty slot iirc … must be mistaken !!

On my project (on DT2) that does nothing. I’ve hacked around using FUNC, YES, NO, press level/data encoder but I can’t get it to work as you described

Edit:

Ok, if you can figure it out on dt2 let us know

i thought the preset pool trig mode wasn’t working for a little bit, until i realised that you have to use the left / right arrows to page through the preset pool when in that mode (the current page being indicated by the page LED lit yellow, and the page button doesn’t move pages when in that mode ) … basically it was defaulting to page 3 of the pool where nothing was loaded yet >>> EDIT just realised this thread was talking about the digitakt , i was referring to the DN2
