Preparing Samples in Audacity

Greetings!

Just wondering if there is anything besides Noise Removal that I have to do to my samples in Audacity or any other wave editing program before I feed them into my OT. Any suggestions, if any, would be most appreciated.

Cheers!

Personal preference really.
I used to use audacity when I had an ESX1. I used EQ and normalise, then I exported the wavs as mono files.

Yeah, I usually normalize to -1 or -3 dB. If it’s a stereo sample, and one side looks quieter than the other, I’ll normalize the L/R channels separate to get them closer to equal. Other than that, export at 16-bit (or 24-bit), 44.1 and transfer those suckers in!

I’ll add some micro fades (fades to or from zero just a few samples long) wherever I may need them (start/end/loop/slice points).

Especially with stereo material you won’t find real zero crossings otherwise (both channels at once). And while these micro fades are short enough, so you won’t hear them, they eliminate every clicking.

Of course you can use the audio editor on the OT to add these micro fades later on, but it’s much more comfortable to do these edits on the computer.
