Prematurely ending the sampling from a one shot recorder trig

I am attempting to prematurely end the sampling of a one shot recorder trig by choosing the ONE2 setting in RECORDING SETUP 1 .

The manual says the following:

ONE2 makes the recorder, once the sampling process is initiated either manually or by recorder
trigs, sample according to the length set by RLEN. The sampling process can be stopped prematurely by pressing [TRACK] + [REC1/2]/[MIDI].

However for recorder trigs that have been made into oneshot trigs, this function does not seem to work. The sampler is still running when I press [TRACK] + [REC1] or [TRACK] + [REC2].

I have a pattern of 32/32 on a Track.
I have a one shot recorder trig on T1 on 1:4 page. A one-shot playback trig is on T1 of 2:4

I rearm the oneshot recorder trig (TRACK+YES) and rearm the oneshot playback trig (YES).

I press PLAY. The Oneshot recorder trig is triggered. The sampler starts. I Press Track+Rec1. Sampler does not stop.

Am I missing something?

In REC2 you can indeed look at quantize recording length and Quantized pattern Length

If started with a one shot rec trig you have to press twice to stop it.
For me its a buggy behavior I notified several times. Some people seem not to have this problem, which is strange.

So it works with twice press after a one shot, but it’s a bit annoying. If possible use QREC to start the recording (if needed there’s a PREROLL function in METRONOME menu).

If I set my preroll to one bar and QREC to 16, the recording will start right after the preroll? If that’s the case, my mind is blooooown, never thought about it.

Just tested. I couldn’t make the PREROLL to work at all…
Edit : it requires to be in Live Recording, but QREC doesn’t work during PREROLL. :sketchy:

Or even simpler, an empy pattern played before : press rec and change pattern. This works. @Kuro I think this is even better than PREROLL. 2 bars minimum is safer.

Yeah, this is how I do it for now when I want RLEN > 64 but still quantized.

Which length? Little tip : you can get longer “automated” length with PLEN and set Master Length. Up to 1024 steps (QREC is limited to 256 steps otherwise).

I use an empty pattern to start recording without fx tails after a pattern loop…

The one shot bug is annoying.

Ah you have to press REC buttons twice! yes that’s what I’m looking for. My brain was really going in circles there.

QREC and QPL.-> I’m able to quantize the beginning of manually triggered recorder buffers and playback trigs to the sequencer. Super useful

Would you be able to give an ELIF explanation by what you’re trying to accomplish with the empty pattern-> here?

QREC works after play (or preroll). So if you don’t want to miss the beginning of your target pattern, you can press REC buttons while playing an empty pattern, and change to target pattern just after.

I’d use a one shot without the double rec press need to stop it.

i must have been getting it wrong, but why just don’t use quick recording feature with the most convenient QREC (like 4 or 16) a la ableton clip recording?
much less key presses than arming/rearming one-shots, and on-the-fly operation

One shot rec trig advantage : recording starts when you press play. Usefull to record a whole song.

For loop recording, I use rec buttons with QREC.
