Pre / post Distortion

what I can’t seem to wrap my head around is why the volume differential seems to change so much for the reverb when its placed post compressor/distortion vs pre (the default). I have to consciously change this every time otherwise the reverb is nearly inaudible. I would say it makes sense if the signal is not being compressed that the volume might be little different but 2 things:

  1. delay doesn’t seem to be affected in this manner quite to the same degree.

  2. the same effect exists even if I run my compressor 100% DRY. in other words no compressor effect.

I can’t find anything about this in the forum.

thanks

This explain that.

Pre is Return 1, Post Return 2

With Return 2, delay and reverb are not affected by Distortion or Compressor.

Delay default setting is Pre, Reverb’s is post.

You can make your default kit and copy it.
I don’t especially like reverb through distortion!
I admit reverb post return is pretty low.

External input pass through Compressor only, not affected by Return 2.
