Power supply A4/OT?

Hi people!

I have a question concerning the power supply units. I have both the A4 and the OT and when looking for spare AC adaptors I realize that Elektron make a difference between the two in their shop. Looking at the ones that came with my units - they’re both the same.

Does any of you know if that’s something I should be concerned with? I ordered the A4 from Elektron themselves and the OT from Thomann.

I’d like to get extra ones for when I bring the boxes out of the studio (to play outside in the garden shade - it’s scorching hot in Sweden!). Could I get non Elektron ones? What specs should I be on the lookout for? The A4 says: 12VDC, 2A and the OT: 6VDC, 3A. But both my adaptors say 12V, 2.5A.

Lot of questions - summary:

[li]Does any of you know if the specs on the adaptors is something I should be concerned with? Considering that the Elektron shops states differently than was delivered with my instruments.[/li]
[li]Could I get non Elektron DC-adaptors?[/li]
[li]If so - What specs should I be on the lookout for?[/li]

Cheers,
Mikael

Supplies for the OT & A4 are most definitely different

OT
POWER SUPPLY (PSU-2) ELECTRICAL SPECIFICATIONS
Output voltage: 5.7-6.3V DC
Output current: 3.5A maximum

A4
POWER SUPPLY (PSU-3) ELECTRICAL SPECIFICATIONS
Output voltage: 12 V DC
Output current: 2.5 A maximum

They should be labeled PSU-2 (OT) PSU-3 (A4)
Don’t plug the PSU-3 into the OT!!!

If you’ve been supplied 2x PSU-2 then you need to contact your supplier & get it rectified

Cheers

Thanks.

I have two PSU-3. Guess I should get in contact with Thomann then, huh?

I haven’t noticed any problems yet, though. Better be on the safe side. No?

Cheers!

Given that I’m an impatient sucker. Would it be alright to take a ride to my local electrical shop and get a PSU with the correct specs? Or are the machines picky and finicky when it comes to Elektron original PSUs?

Cheers!

Really! I’ve heard of people bricking their machines using the wrong PSU, I’d be very careful & get on to Thomann straight away.

Also if your box was sealed then the mix up will be at Elektrons end so it may be quicker to drop them an email & get them to swap it for you.

Good luck

As long as you match the specs in the manual you’ll be fine. Don’t mix AC for DC output for f***s sake
Alternatively, Elektron sell PSU’s direct, £32 which is a bit pricey for a smpsu but that’s the way it is.

Thanks a lot!

I did drop Thomann an email. Maybe I’ll give Elektron a shout as well.

Cheers!

Just to let you know - Elektron & Thomann sorted it. A new PSU is on its way. :+1:
