So I’ve been having terrible luck with Octatracks. The first one purchased 2 weeks ago had an issue where the power was cutting in & out and freezing as a result. The replacement arrived yesterday and it has a ground issue. There’s an audible hum through the headphone output whether the unit is powered up or not as long as the power adapter is connected. Touching the unit eliminates the hum although not 100%. I’ve tried many outlets in the house and the problem remains everywhere. The previous unit did not do this. Haven’t tried through the main outs yet but considering I’d want to use headphones with it often, it doesn’t really matter if the main outputs work fine. Ugh.
OK, I’ve tested some more. I had been using iphone ear buds and the hum was in the right channel only. I suspect it’s the mic/volume control causing the ground hum as it runs through the right bud. Regular cans don’t seem to have any hum. Anyone else care to test my theory?
