PopCorn Sound

Hi.

I have just bought an Analog Keys to substitute my Novation K-Station as my upper keyboard.

I want to recreate the lead sound I play in my Novation at 0:09:

It’s more or a less a PopCorn sound… In the Novation it’s created with 3 sine wave oscilators, but I have no sine wave oscilators in my Analog Keys.

Can you help me? Thanks!!

Hi mcpepe. I will give it a try. I’m ill at home with plenty of time and unable to use the studio properly cos I’m immobile. Should be alright with just the a4.

Do you have any more details on the novation patch.

E.g oscillator tunings and levels. Envelope settings.
It sounds to me like one oscillator fades in. Is that correct?

Also can it be poly setup or are you using other voices?

I got pretty close.

2 voices in poly mode.

Create voice 1
triangle / tun +12 / lev 61
Trg on
Filt1. Frq 127. Res 59
Filt2. Frq 68 res 0
Amp shp4 atk 4

Set kit to unison. Activate voices 1 and 2. Use Track sounds on. Detune off.

Copy trk1 sound to track 2 sound.

To add a bit more pop I set an lfo at hlf/ dest ovr/ dep 31 / spd 19 / mul 64.
I turned the overdrive down to -21 on this voice only

It sounds like you’ve got some subtle vel modulations going on as well. I couldn’t get layered portamento to work as the detune killed all the attack on notes far apart.

What do you think?

sounds pretty easy, im away from my synth but try something like this

square or triangle wave

filter around 70-80, resonance around 30, adjust to taste

in sound settings, set velocity mod to affect the amount of overdrive to add a bit of crunch when you hit it harder

for the envelope, select one of the last shapes with a VERY fast attack and decay, the one with the dot in front (that means it will retrigger the envelope each note)

attack 0, decay 20-50, sustain 0, release 0

some delay and also the slide time really fast

I like juno’s recipe, except I don’t remember much in terms of overdrive in the “pop corn” sound, which I must admit, I don’t want to hear right now :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Definitely sounds more overtly square wave rather than triangle with a dash of delay.

Thanks!!!

I will try to reproduce the patch later. I have been silly to not look carefully to the Novation values!! I thought it was 3 oscillators, but only one of them is active!!

This is what I read in my Novation:

(All parameters from 0 to 127)

Osc3: Octave -1 Sine

Amp Envelope:
Attack:0
Decay: 81
Sustain: 76
Release: 49

Filter Envelope:
Attack:0
Decay: 71
Sustain: 27
Release: 61

Filter: 24dB LP
Frecuency:35
Resonance:39
ModEnvDepth: +20
FilterTrack: 92

No LFOs
