That exact example you can do with track speed on the page setup
thx @bibenu / others for the speed/track length feature - that will def help in most cases, but as you’ve said wouldn’t easily work for 5’s and 7’s.
maybe hte answer is to have more multiples available other then 1/8 1/4 1/2 3/4 3/2 2x, so for example if we wanted 20 beats of 5/8 to be as long as 16 beats of 4/4 it would take a 4/5ths ratio. user definable ratio’s anyone?
thx all!
You can also use retriggers. It’s limited to a uniform burst, but gives you 3’s and 5’s. You can create rests with clever LFO targets, like slice, sample slot, volume (think: square HOLD LFO with particular rate/phase)…
Caveat: I am a DT1 user, but not (yet) a DT2 user.
Depending on what you want to do with your 5-beat and 7-beat tracks there may be another option, provided all you need is a rhythmic pulse on those tracks. In that case, you might experiment with LFOs. Set BPM to 16 and speed to 8 and you have an LFO that cycles once per bar. Raise the speed to 40 and you have 5 beats per bar and 56 give 7 beats per bar.
I’ve just been doing that with a shaker on every trig (all 16 in a bar) combined with a sawtooth LFO with start phase set to 64. Got the idea from a Ricky Tinez video, he applies the LFO to filter freq, but you could also do amp volume of course.
EDIT: Video linked above has detailed explanation, but it was this one that had the sawtooth/phase/amp volume trick (with not as much explanation).
