This seems a bit odd, i made a polyrhythmic sequence on my A4, but not sure if this is a bug or not ?
Master is set to 16 steps
In advanced mode i have set up for the following tracks
Track-1: 8 steps (1-8)
Track-2: 6 steps (1-6)
Track-3: 12 steps (1-12)
However track 2 plays the first 4 notes in a row twice (steps 1-4), then steps 5 & 6 before doing it again, it just should be playing steps 1-6 all the time as the sequence advances.
yea that’s normal… master does reset all tracks to step 1 when it itself wraps to step 1.
what happens is that track 2 plays twice, after which master will be at step 13. then steps 1-4 in track 2 are played, master reaches the end, and then it’ll restart track 2 (and all other tracks).
if you want to avoid the restart, set master to a higher number or infinite… you can use the CHNG thing if you want to switch to another pattern at earlier intervals.
Cheers, just noticed that now, by setting it to infinite it all works out. Although with that reset bit, it seems to add a bit of randomness to some sequences.
Never liked the A4 first time round, 2nd time round is much better.
All we need now is for them to add ‘Skip’ and the midi sequencer
do mutes do the same thing as skips?
if with skip you mean to: DONT PLAY that Trig…they do
The Skip function is mostly found on Analog Sequencers a la Moog 960 or a Doepfer Dark Time. Or digital sequencers like the P3/Cirklon or Schrittmacher.
The Moog 960 sequencer has 3 functions for each step in a row (Skip, Normal and Off)
Skip misses that note which you have selected to skip, ie: a 16 note pattern with 4 skips in essence would become a 12 note pattern, a skip does not produce a momentary pause like the mute does for a trig on the A4 (pressing FUNC+TRIG) will mute that trig step and you will hear a slight pause as that step is missed.
Cenk has said he would like see this skip function on the A4, who knows it may well be added to the next or a future OS update, so more or less the sequencer can perform like an analog step sequencer.
