Try to decide between those two Reaktor ensembles from Twisted tools.
They look both phenomenal. Any users here?
I think they could be a great sample source for OT or DT…
Any experiences, which might better suited as companion?
Polyplex which is polyphonic seems to be better suited for midi sequencing, S-layer more powerful for sample generation.
I bought a PC just to run Twisted Tools, S-Layer is astounding and will provide a lifetime of sounds, especially when you start making your own samplemaps (which you really should asap)…
I have Polyplex but not used it much as I don’t really sequence on the PC, it’s great but more geared to building kits, S-Layer can build kits but you can use huge samples to make all kinds of noises…
You can obviously sequence either from the DT for fun.
Yeah I use ultraloop but I have a single rule, it has to be my own samples!
Dumping one shots into UL is good too, not just loops.
I tend to make a batch of loops, about 80, then Ultraloop them to make a further batch of between 50 and 128. Then I make a sample map of the best originals and the UL results and start again making finally however many loops I think I can to still sound fresh.
Then I drop those into the DT or OT to further chop up to make even more!
This way most loops are 3rd generation and have interesting layers and bleeds to them, even in mono…
Loops in S-Layer can reveal all kinds of stuff too, often you can snip little bits where several loops at odd speeds and spaces somehow work! Use the global randomise and effect everything, it’s just so much fun using your ears that way!
Yeah it can be but it’s like a snowball, in the end the hardship is actually stopping!
I made about 350+ steaming acid loops in a couple of hours.
Then again you just keep inbreeding and cross referencing, in the end the loops generated have so much detail and spacial character that you can make whole tracks with just a few plus fx…
