Will the new OS support polyphonic sequencing so you can record chords etc ?
Yes. You can see in that AK demo video.
if you mean the promo vid on elektron’s site with the guy in the hoodie with the ballerinas then all the poly parts are played live…
No, he meant the other video.
I just watched the whole De:Bug video again, you don’t see any poly sequencing at all, only at the beginning he uses the new hold function which is independent from the sequencer so no proof yet that the capability is there…
No, not the Debug video. The other video:
Watch the lights above the keys. Cleary polyphonic Chords sequenced.
the question is: are this chords in 1 track or 1 note per track?
the last would be a PITA for edit, both sound and sequences
anyway I´d love to get different voice assignment modes, as in the vermona perfourmer…so one mode could be to cycle between voices at each note…this method delivers beautiful living sequences when used with an arpeggiator
We don’t know. I asked Jon via Twitter if the AF/AK will record real polyphonically. and all he answered was this
@WeAreElektron: @pulsn Yes it does. All details are on the #AnalogKeys website: http://www.elektron.se/products/analog-keys
But in the site are no infos about that.
THAT’s definitely not a clear answer, whatsoever! I just asked a lot of questions in this AK Thread “Who’s buying one?” based upon what’s not disclosed on website. The devil is always in the details and “true poly to Elektron” may very well be my worry of a voice per track…or they are referring to “true poly” when AK is switched into controller mode I rather like the voices rotating with a note priority for preventing unwanted tails of notes cut-off.
i have a feeling we won’t get a clear answer until new OS/AK releases…
yes… the cube needs to emit 15 more cycles
now that the first units are in the wild… can anyone confirm?
Yes. You can record polyphonic sequences, as in NO2, NO3 and NO4 will be automatically locked.
It doesn’t seem to record exactly as you play tho. For example it doesn’t handle recording a 3 note chord and then releasing one of the notes.
I guess it also shares velocity over notes. So basically the sequencer is paraphonic for a full polyphonic voice architecture.
But at least that could mean voice allocation is fully dynamic over the 4 tracks?
Wild guess: So e.g. you could set more than one track to polyphonic playback and e.g. use chords on different tracks as long as there are free voices to be allocated?
Could be interesting.
It seems that way yes. I havent fully grasped exactly how it works tho (no manual yet). There is also a setting on how the voices should be allocated (Reset, Rotate, Reasign and Unison). Haven’t had time to test the different settings in practice yet tho.

sorry i’m just not sure what you mean by this… i just want to know if the sequencer can record chords aka several notes on a single step?

Yep! it can. But the notes in the chord cant for instance have different length or velocity (because of how the sequencer works). When recording multiple notes it automatically locks the NO2, NO3 and NO4 on the ARP page. And if the arpeggiator is turned off and if polyphony is setup correctly a trig recorded like this will spit out a chord when played back.
got it! kinda shame about no recorded length or velocity though… do the AK synth sounds at least respond to velocity when playing the keys in real time?
