I wonder if they’re scrambling to finish the firmware/software for the screen interaction. We’ve seen very little of how that operates

I saw that too. But he didn’t say “oh it has sample editing”. He was probably referring to the fact that they’ll show instrument editing page.
I hope it goes further than that, it looks like the play is an instrument that could take advantage of having some in-depth features, I think going halfway could do more harm than good for this instrument but who knows I guess
If this were a flagship product in terms of feature depth they wouldn’t call it Play.

but looking at the instrument, it begs to be taken seriously… I sincerely hope the ‘play’ is a nod to it having some deep performance capability but if it has too weak production capability the performance capability won’t mean that much to me…
otoh with polyend you really have to buy and try the instrument to really know, they might focus on performance and unlike the polyend tracker allow all of that performance goodness to all of a sudden be recordable into the sequencer… instant production beast in that case soo… I’m optimistic
I have a hunch it’s going to be more underpowered than I’d like performance-wise & modulation-wise but I hope I’m wrong 
haven’t heard any drum loop samples out of it yet. if it could slice n mutate / effect drum breaks it would be very interesting to me.
