Thanks for checking it out.

The first videos are not using synth engine but look on the upper left it will say “play”. Later on I did play+ synth engine tutorials (ACD, VAP, FAT, WTFM). I have not done the other engines for play+ yet.

I did not cover everything fully but the older firmware. oh that I think they removed the automation on track length! Lol later on in firmwares I believe. If I’m wrong sorry!

Time for my yearly bout of GAS, and these machines have caught my attention now that they’ve matured.
I am a bit unclear on the differences between the old version and the +, can somebody kindly elucidate?

  • OG has no synths and USB audio, as well as stereo samples, right?
  • I see a couple of OG units going for really good prices but IDK how I feel about missing the synths and USB audio
  • Only the Plus has MIDI perform, is that correct? The Polyend video didn’t exactly elaborate on that feature
  • Can both units take external audio and effect it in performance mode?
    My setup right now is MD Mk2 + DN2 into Ableton, occasionally replacing the MD with a TR6s or Lofi 12 XT. I feel like the hands-on sequencing and performing approach of the Play appeals to me in theory, but I might just use it standalone instead of integrating it.

I’m pretty sure both machines have midi perform mode. Neither machine has an audio input or onboard sampling aside from stem export.

Posted on share your tunes yesterday but I think it belongs to this thread. All drum sounds made with Play+. This is the first song of my new EP released yesterday. Play+ is an incredible machine.

This is a full session composed with Play+. It’s an incredible device; I performed this adding effects and jamming some time ago and people danced all the set.

I think it demonstrated to me how absolutely powerful is this machine.

Great set, probably the best stuff I have seen online with the Play+!

To be completely honest, I’ve been trying to get into mine but have been finding the synths pretty uninspiring. You’re killing it with them though, nice job!

I am still learning the Play so my usage is basic, but I don’t encounter any bugs regularly. I’m sure there are bugs, and Polyend seems to always get heavy criticism for them, but I find their products usable.

I’m considering buying the Polyend Play+, partly to use it as a sequencer for my external gear. I couldn’t find clear information regarding MIDI CC workflow. Is it possible to select specific CC values for external devices and record automation or randomize them? If so, how many CC parameters can be mapped and controlled from the Play+?
