Polyend Play / +

An upgrade for 400 bucks? They topped Roland with their 7x7 upgrades for the TR-8.

Elektron Syntakt had a shiny new plate after a year and it costs about £270 more.

I actually like his videos (if they aren’t about a Polyend device), but this is yuk

I think the upgrade plan is a great idea, but 399 is just too much. I think if it was 199 people would be far less upset about it.

agreed.

like, if they upgraded the tracker mini buttons & case in a year I’d be happy to pay a few Bob to upgrade em. not 400 smackers tho

Yeah, he is paid. He mentions he’s paid in other videos, he’s literally a brand ambassador or some shit. So not really a shill cuz he’s not pretending to not be paid the way a dictionary definition shill would be.

But it does pull the rug out of his other videos when he criticizes things when we know he gets paid by a company to sell their products. I did think his MPC Keys complaints were valid but the validity gets put into question when he’s an employee of another company.

Other people know how to thread that line better, like Ricky Tinez that worked for Novation and now works for Elektron. None of his personal videos ever felt colored by that fact. He might have featured Novation gear more regularly but it makes sense if he has easier and cheaper access to them.

Oh come on, this is obviously not the same scenario and you know it, I don’t see why you’d want to make such a disingenuous argument.

As someone who hates the YouTube thumbnail pictures with a passion (that’s probably most of us at this point) this one is especially obnoxious lol.

I think you will have to wait for Tracker Mini+

probably :joy:

And it doesn’t even have new features.

I’ll just leave this here

Yes, apologies. I just saw your post and it instantly popped into my head. I guess special editions are different and aimed more at collectors with deep pockets than musicians just wanting the gear as cheap as possible to make music on.

I do actually agree though that it’s a pretty shoddy deal.

I bought the ST about 2 months ago, and the e25 anniversary release doesn’t bother me one bit. This here tho…

I did read a post from somebody who sounded pretty pissed at the new edition Syntakt though after buying the og.

But Tracker had it’s own special editions, so on par really.

The Tracker Mini has a much faster CPU like the Play+ so it would make sense for them to add them to the Tracker Mini.

That is something I would seriously consider buying provided they get the case issues sorted.

Has there been a product in recent history, that has gotten a 40% price reduction within the first 2 years of its release? This is mind boggling. They aren’t even discontinuing the original Play, they plan on selling it cheaper from now on. So they mean to tell me that they can reduce their prices nearly 40% and it’s still suistanable for them?

Scum.

To be fair… chip shortage probable sent the original chip price through the roof for what it was. I bet if the Play was released in 2019 it would have been in the $500-$600 price range.
