How kind of you to give me such a thoughtful response. Thanks so much. Yeah, all very tempting points that you make there. I’m all for it if it enhances what’s already in the creative flow. Sounds like it would.
It sure does seem like it. I think what I’m really avoiding these days is overlapping gear. That sort of thing tends to boggle the mind and distract from productivity. Super gracious of you to fill me in. Thanks a bunch.
If anybody has any tips for making sample packs for these would love to hear them. Particularly if it’s worth converting them from 24 to 16 bit, if that means i could include a lot more samples and if its possible to batch tune synth samples to the root key of C to make the chord feature work.
It would definitely be cool if the Play was somehow able to automatically pitch samples to ‘C’ when importing samples or packs, not sure how or if this would be possible, but would certainly quicken the workflow.
I’m hoping sample slicing makes it into the next firmware update, I think combining sample slicing with the chance, randomiser and play modes will be a definite game changer on the device to make some crazy loops with.
It’s taking me an age curating my favourite sample packs to fit the Play. I’ve probably spent maybe 7 or 8 hours so far as it’s a long tedious task splitting packs into several smaller packs. If they could retune the samples, even using the root note tagged with samples by offsetting the note or something, that would be amazing and save a hell of a lot of time and make it easier for me and offer more possibilities.
Does this thing have a play mode where you can simply load a sample to a button and trigger it manually when you like?
Nope.
However, you can play a sample of the pad by holding down the encoder and tapping the pad where the note is placed.
Looks you can send in your old unit for 399USD and they send you a new Play +.
why the hell dont they just wait and release the more mature version? it seems like they release half assed versions to fund the more pro version.
Ouch, they debuted Play last year and now already have an improved version out? Really scummy.
Feels weird that there’s a hardware refresh after only one year, I really don’t like the way polyend functions. Combined with the QC issues they seem to constantly have it makes me really hesitant to buy anything they put out.
I can’t deny that Multi track USB audio out and 14usb inputs is pretty cool, and I’m curious about the piano roll and synths.
Ha. Yeah I don’t think I’m ever buying from them again. That’s ridiculous
Ohhh Polyend…sadly this Tracks with their past activities regarding hardware.
Quite like the synth demos so far but I’d be a little miffed if I had bought into the original model. I’m ok with early adopters effectively being firmware beta testers but this is like being a hardware tester! Just my take though.
Seems like a more complete device now. A little tempting.
Polyend can go to hell. Play was the most half assed piece of gear I ever bought. It taught me a lesson about ignoring the synthfluencers who hyped it up. Now they bring out this gussied up version so soon? Screw them. I’m salty.
Some people in this forum know better about the (hardware) music industry, but one difference between the Play and the Play+ just looking at the calendar is that the former was developed during that pandemic that stopped everything (remember chipset shortage etc) while the latter had to deal “only” with the regular limitations of contracts with suppliers etc.
Could Polyend release this Play+ a year ago? Most probably not. Should they have waited one year and start with this Play+? Why, I got my Play a year ago and it has been so much fun.
all my faith in polyend is gone, they treat customers as beta testers for both firmware/hardware; not only that, it seems that early owners of their equipment are just funding the next version of the thing they just bought. i guess you can’t be mad if they release a Polyend Play Plus Extreme next year, lol. this is ridiculous
they had the audacity to release Tracker mini, when you still can’t even input notes live without the thing missing 60% of your inputs. Trackers in the 90’s were more stable than this thing.
A comment left under one of the new demo videos with a cheeky heart left by them. Stay classy Polyend…
Sad that this is tempting, they seemed to have fixed most things. But really scummy company…
