Polyend Play + vs. MPC Live II

And forgot about in pro side very deep polyrhythms or whatever the name is in Play+.

MPC Live 2 is not for jamming? Yeah ok…:upside_down_face: I notice that you’re not bringing up any of the features or plugins that make the MPC pretty good for on the fly changes.

At least in my experience, from a maschine and Play+ and model samples user jamming with a MPC live partner. Yes, I guess you can do a lot with the plugins. But I think It takes more time to make edits on the fly. And I’m talking what I’ve seen since jamming with an early MPC live MK1 user. Just my opinion based on my experience.

Is MPC live a way more powerful machina than Play+? Yes, I’m absolutely sure. I this there are 2 different concepts and I prefer much much more the polyend’s approach.

First, there’s no perfect groovebox.

Second, whether you want to reduce the MPC to “a daw in a box” or not, it’s still a terrific groovebox. One of my absolute favorites.

It can do so much, but it can also be so quick to work with. Synthesis or samples, it can do it all. I play on those pads to noodle, with great sounding synths. I resample synths to add amazing and unique textures to the song sketches I’m working on. I always end up with something unique on the MPC that I wouldn’t really have made in a proper daw. Over Dub and using your ears is king.

I’ve had too many grooveboxes, including Polyend Tracker+ and og Live and MPC X.

But Live 2 running 3.0 and some. paid plugins is one of my all time favorites.

Just recording beats in live, with some quantization, often playing Note Repeat instead of the step sequencer, and the chord player with a nice synth, usually gets my head nodding ;D

You can be extremely fast with it if you have some experience, especially with templates

Andy Mack did the recent MPC 3.0 software and NI Integration launch video with Anderson’s and to me he really really really showed how fluid and easy it is to jam on an MPC (37 keys). The beat making sections are at 27mins and 40mins.

If I was home alone with my dog and my OG Digitakt, and you handed me a Play+ & an MPC but said I could only keep one, I’d chuck the Polyend in the garbage and snatch up the MPC, laughing giddily as I hooked them up together and created my magnum opus
