Man this Polyend MESS is a lot of fun. I love the screen on MESS as it makes things easier to get around especially compared to ZOIA. MESS is pretty easy to get around and allows for quick layering of steps on the 16-step sequencer, and then adding p-locks with certain parameters. Then you can switch the order of the 4 effects super fast. On top of that you have series, dual parallel, parallel to change the tonal characters etc. It’s pretty fast and simple to get something fun going without having to be a genius like you do with ZOIA haha. Also the FX chain randomizer is awesome.
Hopefully we can see randomizing of parameters sometime soon and LFO’s, and would like to see a few more routing options like 1-into-3 parallel and 3 parallel into 1 etc… and also allow for the routing options to be randomized along with the fx chain randomization etc. Also hopefully they fix it where the steps stay on the sequencer when changing effects or when using the fx chain randomization.
Yeah I was definitely hoping for more. Also not a big fan of mute tracks carrying over to presets. I definitely voiced my opinion on this and I’d hope they give us a setup menu option to carry mutes over to presets or not.
Curious what the current state of this product is. I was surprised to find a lot of semi-recent (2 month old) chatter on Reddit decrying bugs and stability issues.
Have subsequent firmwares helped? Any existing concerns a prospective owner should be aware of?
Does the community anticipate further feature updates, or is the box likely everything it will ever be at this point? This is more an admission of not knowing Polyend’s general approach here.
Just received mine and really enjoying the UI, super easy to navigate and very flexible, the screen is really great. Build quality is top notch. Now about the effects, it’s a bit light on controls but there’s a lot to choose from. Some I would never use, but most are pretty good except for the Shaper effects (saturator/overdrive/waveshaper etc…) which barely do anything? They’re really subtle at best, not at all what I expected / feels like just cranking the volume. Anybody have the same experience?
Ok so looks like you have to slam the input gain to drive the shapers, need to experiment further with gain staging. The waveshaper could use more shapes though…
