Podcasting setup

Hello everyone

So over the last year, I have been playing around with the idea of doing a DIY radio show via mix cloud, and currently do one called Tracks from the Racks which is basically just recordings of my records complied into an hour show with no talking. You can find the today’s one here(shameless plug) not sure why link doesn’t show

Now what id like to do is progress the idea and invite other DJs/ producers/music lovers to show and have them pick their ten records followed by an interview about why they picked the records etc

can anyone recommend a good mic set up for at least two users? I have a zoomh6 so i can record directly into that for the interview and the records will be recorded using the sound card in my xone 96 which will then be edited into a show

I see lots of youtube setups and podcasts so was interested is anyone doing something similar?

Id like to keep the mic separate from a computer as well as it will be done in a more relaxed environment

Thanks in advance

I have a Zoom H6 too and use one Røde lavalier Go mic per guest when I’m recording. Alternatively - a dynamic mic or two placed next or close to your guests could work but you’re gonna get a lot more ambient room noise bleeding through.

The thing about my setup with the lav mics going into H6 is that I can record separate audio channels for all my mics so I can EQ them accordingly in post should I feel the need to. I use the H6’s built in L+R mic to get the room ambience as well.

Hey

Thanks for the information ill check the Rode out . Similar to you I would like the zoom to record the separate mics and put in to Ableton for editing once we have done the interview

I had been looking at using 2 x shure sm7b but that is looking a bit expensive for what will basically be a hobby

Same boat here, didn’t want to spend a fortune on what was essentially a side/passion project. The sound quality is great especially considering the price. Don’t forget that you’ll need phantom power to use the Rode mics with the H6 so you’ll a VXLR adapter and possibly a 3.5mm extension cord for the mics since they’re short as fuck that comes with…

Search SM7b vs SM57 or 58 comparison videos on YT. If it’s just for podcast and the ‘look’ doesn’t matter then these standard Shure mics are killer. I use the Rode Podmic with generic cloudlifter preamp ($35) and it is perfect for my needs.
