I kept them for awhile with that same thought in mind, that it would be fun to just for a day or so, connect them all and jam something up, as a pause from more serious production. But eventually, I sold them (still keeping the Sample, though), because even though they’re great in many ways, they have a very clear limit. And that’s fine, but even though good music comes from the artist, not the instrument, you still can’t play the piano on a guitar. And you can’t make the Volcas sound like anything, if you’ve got a very specific thing in mind.
The Sample, though, I’m using to create loops and sequences, sample them back into the Octatrack for further mayhem. I’ve found it very effective as a loop creator and it adds a certain color to the beats which I like.
