Whoa! 2 Bills? I hope it had the external case for it. I would think that those are a must if you want these to last at all. ESD will kill them in short order without them!
I have the Rhythm and a case on order. Plan on getting the Sub next. I have heard the Factory will descend in to feed back too easily when adding the efx to it.

For their price, I think it’s better to buy from their website, they are at 69euros and will be delivered soon.

I think they would be redundant if you had a few elektrons. They might be nice for travelling or doing a mini setup jam but I think they would mostly end up not being used.

I love the idea of them, but I don’t see them doing anything that I can’t already do (much better) with my MNM or MD. I think those things would just sit on the shelf. I do think they’re amazing products though, and for peopl who don’t want to spend a lot of money, they’re a sure win.

I had ordered the PO-12 and PO-14, after I saw that the PO-14 didn’t allow full range of notes I emailed about cancelling that and keeping the PO-12, however, they couldn’t do that so I had to cancel my whole order…someone just moved up in line.

I will probably just skip them for now (as fun as the PO-12 looks)…I have the whole volca line and find that I hardly ever use them…sure, they aren’t as small and portable as the PO series but they aren’t overly large either.

Got them, love 'em. Yep lots of stuff can do what they do, but the way they work is quite fun and refreshing, instant happy accidents, quirky yet useful, for the money they cost and for a good source of inspiration and sample fodder they are a no-brainer.

I wouldn’t use one if it were given to me. Would probably just toss it in the garbage. They are limited to the C scale. You can go outside of the scale only by using and “effect” slot and applying a pitch bend for that note.

everything i have blows them out of the water in every regard.
might make a good gift for a 7-10 yr old.

I really think they are great gear, I bet it would give ideas on how to use your actual gear.
The big limitations are C-scale and no MIDI, but otherwise they are really much fun, rather straightforward.
Don’t underestimate their capabilities, it’s actually quite impressive what you can do with them…
The fact that you can easily chain patterns is a nice feature, I spend hours playing with them.

You can’t really expect midi on these little guys, especially for the price, they are extremely portable.

That being said, the limited scale issue is just plain ridiculous and that’s what killed the deal for me.

I actually would have kept the order for the PO-12 but they wouldn’t allow me to just cancel one part of my order…consequently, I had to cancel my whole order and didn’t really feel like going to the back of line again and waiting.

I still may pick the PO-12 up at a later date, however, I took the money that was going towards the POs and put it towards a new module.

I would’ve made the same journey with these as with the Volcas. Wanting them, getting them, loving them, tweaking the shit out of them.

But eventually outgrowing them (except for the Volca Sample).

You’d think, for the price, who cares? Isn’t fun enough of a reason to get one?

But I’m having so much fun with what I’ve got. I need focus now, to get better at playing what’s in my rig.

But really, this is a very subjective take on what seems to be great piece of gear, not only in what it offers for the money but to show that music can be made with scrap cards and some wires, and still be great.

Today, even the poorest of us can afford the stuff that helps us unleash whatever talent we might possess. For that, I’m loving these devices.

damnit … again I am right at the start in my head… maybe I should not be an early adaptor and see how prices develop … maybe then it is too late … grrrr …

I just picture myself in the subway with these tiny things in my jacket pockets and do a live soundtrack to my life , can anything be more epic ?

You can do a lot worse than a Volca Sample if you’re going for epic soundtracks composed on subway trains. I pulled the trigger on that one, and I’d do it again if I had to

I kept them for awhile with that same thought in mind, that it would be fun to just for a day or so, connect them all and jam something up, as a pause from more serious production. But eventually, I sold them (still keeping the Sample, though), because even though they’re great in many ways, they have a very clear limit. And that’s fine, but even though good music comes from the artist, not the instrument, you still can’t play the piano on a guitar. And you can’t make the Volcas sound like anything, if you’ve got a very specific thing in mind.
The Sample, though, I’m using to create loops and sequences, sample them back into the Octatrack for further mayhem. I’ve found it very effective as a loop creator and it adds a certain color to the beats which I like.

I might do the same eventually, seems you wouldn’t be able to get much for them since they aren’t real expensive new…like you, if I happened to sell them, I would probably keep the sample because of it’s flexibility
