Please help, Digitakt II Transfer not working for dragging Firmware or Samples

The screen has lines in it and i can’t drag the syx file from the update into my new version of Elektron transfer. I can’t also transfer sample packs or anything. Please help <3

Is it connected ? Can you browse files on the digitakt ?

Also - Mac or windows ?

it is connected. I can see my projects, sounds and samples. But when I try to drag smth :no_entry_sign:

You’re dragging to the right ‘drop’ area ?

Transfer version up to date ? 1.9.5 should be good for firmware 1.15A .

yes, I just updated the transfer version and are trying to drag the syx on the right drop area. I have 1.03A for now and trying to install 1.15B

That OS might not work with the newest Transfer app. You might need to downgrade Transfer then update your OS before going to the newest Transfer.

If this was happening to me, at this point I’d be contacting Elektron Support. There are other ways of upgrading (the manual has 15.4 OS UPGRADE) but transfer ought to be capable of doing it.

Because your OS and the version of Transfer are most likely incompatible. You likely have to do a ‘Legacy OS Update’ as per this note from the Digitakt II release notes. Also, having skimmed the instructions, you might have to use DIN MIDI cables and a MIDI interface to do the upgrade. Most audio Interfaces have DIN MIDI I/O:

" How to upgrade

Upgrading from within the OS
  • Connect the Elektron device to the computer via USB and switch it on.
  • Open the Transfer application on your computer.
  • On the Transfer CONNECTION page, set the MIDI IN and MIDI OUT ports to your Elektron device.
  • On the Transfer DROP page, drag and drop the OS file. The OS file is then automatically transferred to the Elektron device and the OS update initiates. A progress bar is visible on device screen when receiving the OS.
  • On your device. Press [YES] to confirm the OS update.

If your current device OS does not fully support Transfer, you will be automatically directed to Transfer’s LEGACY OS UPGRADE page after you drag and drop the OS file on the Transfer DROP page. Follow the instructions on the LEGACY OS UPGRADE page to proceed with the OS upgrade.

When the update is done the unit will restart by itself.

Upgrading from the Startup Menu
  • Connect the Elektron device to the computer via the device’s MIDI port. (You cannot use the USB port).
  • Hold down the [FUNC] button while powering on the Elektron device. This takes you to the STARTUP menu.
  • Press the [TRIG 4] key to enter OS UPGRADE mode.
  • Open the Transfer application on your computer.
  • On the Transfer CONNECTION page, click “LEGACY OS UPGRADE mode”
  • On the Transfer LEGACY OS UPGRADE mode page browse to, and select, the downloaded OS syx file.
  • Select your MIDI interface.
  • In Transfer, press “UPGRADE”.

A progress bar is visible on device screen when receiving the OS.

When the update is done the unit will restart by itself.

After some upgrades the bootstrap is also upgraded. This upgrade is performed right after the first restart of the device. Do not turn the power off during the upgrade."
