Hey All,
I’ve spent a couple hours trying to get this to work to no avail. Here are the steps that I’m doing, what am I missing?!
I have a flex track with slices set to ON.
I load a sample
I added a trig on each of the 16 steps in grid record mode.
I select FUNC+AED, select YES to 16 slices, then hit YES and select Create Linear Locks.
In grid recording mode all the trigs now flash and pressing/holding them shows a different STRT SL# assignment. However when I leave grid recording mode and try to play the trigs, they all trigger SL1.
Please help!
To be totally clear, my goal is to load a sample, slice it, and then play the slices with trigs just like you would on a midi controller or drum machine. I’ll eventually want to record these patterns, but baby steps.
Thanks,
Max
All you need to do is slice the sample, have slice turned on, and then you enter slice mode. No need to put trigs on the track or create linear locks, that’s for other uses…
To enter slice mode press function+down arrow and select slices from the list. Outside of grid recording mode the trig keys will now play slices… Make sure in the audio editor attributes section for the sample that quantized trig is set to direct to make the slices play immediately when trigs are pressed instead of quantized…
For more info see manual section 12.7 : Trig Modes, 12.7.4 : Slices…

This isn’t working for me. Every trig will only play slice #1.
Scene can override locks. Check if it’s not locked to play slice1.
Or try again on new empty project.

You nailed it! I made a new scene and that one worked like it should. Thanks a lot for the help, that caused me hours of frustration.
