Just occurred to me that Richie Hawtin is another one who’s been playing on computer/controller for afaik well over a decade, although these days he’s incorporating an analogue mixer.
Obviously he has a particular interest in doing this given his connection to the Model 1, but I guess it just goes to show that at this stage trying to draw a bright line distinction between hardware and software (plus probably analog and digital) doesn’t really make sense - sure there are differences and strengths or weaknesses, but I don’t think one is per se “better” or more playable than the other.
