I know that there are much more ‘sophisticated’ solutions, but what about a backpack (2 Elektrons + cables) plus a laptop bag (1 Elektron device, maybe two depending on the bag)? Do you have protective covers?
On the more professional side, there seems to be a consensus in the forum about Pelican cases being very useful.
Just be prepared for that chemical check for bombs, so you should get your devices easily out of the bags.
Cheapest way to do it is to get a Peli 1510 which will house 2 machines & 3 PSU, then carry the 3rd in the smallest hand/shoulder case you can find. No outer pockets or anything, it needs to seen as an accessory! I’ve got away with this hundreds of times with KLM, Emirates & Etihad.
Only Ryan air stopped me over the Peli. Those cheeky bastards have reduced the size allowance by something like 4mm to purposely catch people out who’ve bought cases within the guidelines! I had to check it at the gate but got away with being charged
Also keep the Peli out of sight as much as possible when checking regular luggage. Even though it’s designed as hand luggage, with 2 machines in there it could be over weight on some airlines.
You can get larger Peli’s that will fit 3 machines if you do want to check it but I’m guessing not!
Edit. Re MK7 post, yeah be prepared for the occasional swab test, no biggy though. Also, I’ve heard people talk about having to display the equipment working, I’ve never encountered this, not in 250+ flights Worldwide!
Interesting, looks pretty cool!
With the new legislation that’s come into place this year regarding carrying musical instruments onboard flights you might get away with it.
Managed to get away with guitars in soft cases many a time
Perhaps 1 pelicase that contains two units and 3 psu is the solution.
Have to check if it could fit in cabin ! Cause I also have a 2 octaves keyboard, midi boxes and all the audio and midi cables…
I bought a wheeled, trolleyed case about 3 years ago that perfectly fits an EIT-1 with 2 machines + space above for extra stuff + front compartment for laptop etc. Its within carry on luggage dimension guidelines. Having wheels and extendable pull handle was essential for me. I have weighed it fully loaded at around 12kg.
I reckon that without the EIT frame, but with each device having one of those Elektron plastic dust covers, you could just fit in 3 devices, maybe with a little foam between each device to avoid scratches etc.
^ @ Ozone- the only draw back with soft cases is that in the eventuality of them insisting on it being checked, (often at the gate on 2x2 short hauls that are fully booked), they offer little protection!
I’d also avoid any Peli copies too. Again, fine if you’re taking it on board but in the above scenerio!!! I know they seam a cheap option but I’ve seen them with the catches ripped off & the contents spread all over the conveyor belt!
Poisk, sure it fits in the cabin. I did research over a number of airlines to confirm. Unless you refer to the other options above… some might struggle to avoid check in I agree, including the new Elektron 3 device bag.
Bluewolfse7en, sure I agree that I would be uncomfortable with this being check in luggage. Never had a problem yet over quite a few flights, but if they ever decide to weigh it then its fair game for that possibility. I do use a travel insurance that covers up to $5k musical instrument damage so I take that risk knowingly.
A proper hard case with the same dimensions and trolley functions would have me exercising the wallet though.
For adding 3rd device you have to add several washers under device’s rack ears . The case also has space for cables, power units, other devices.
Tip:
buy a piece of isolating foam tube in local store (with big diameter):
Take surge protector and connect PSUs of elektron devices to it.
After that cut isolating foam tube to the width (+ 2-3 cm) of rack case and put surge protector with PSU inside the tube.
Get out surge protector cable from one side of tube and power cables for devices from opposite side of the tube.
Attach PSU cables to the rack frame and connect them to devices.
Insert tube into rack case.
Done! Now for carrying rack case you have to hide power cable of surge protector into foam tube. That’s all!
It’s nice to have all devices connected and routed, so you need only 1 power socket and 1 stereo pair for connecting devices to amp system of the club.

Ozone, don’t you think the Magma could hold 3 elektrons, and a mono lancet perhaps ?

Hmm… Maybe in the front compartment along with ur power supplies. Would be a tight fit and not exactly damage proof.
Wouldnt it be cool to have miniaturised versions of the elektrons with same size screen but in a volca, of electribe or sonic potions lxr size.
