PL-5 Decksaver much too tight

Sanding paper : solved.

dunno if sanding poly is a good idea, more likely a heatgun and a rig to bend it back

If I had sanded my first one down to make it fit smoothly on the TV, there wouldn’t have been much plastic left. Apart from the fact that it would look awful.

Ok so dimensions were really wrong !

not really. It fits perfectly if the plastic sides are straight. Just sides are convex bended. So maybe different formula of the plastic, wrong plastic healing, storage conditions before shipping. who knows.

@TwoFerns is right. Just rig with a size of TV and some heat could solve it.

Can we make a poll on here to get an idea what percent of the lids are faulty? Also thinking of buying one but seeing a few too many posts about it not fitting here.

This thread is remarkable to me. I have a number of Decksavers for various Elektron boxes, and even one for a Pod64x. All were expensive, but fit well and were/are useful. It’s really unfortunate and inexplicable that those for Tonverk have such issues. This really puts me off any future purchases. I hope those who have faulty ones get quick positive resolutions.

I’ll go down swinging saying that these decksavers should be included when buying a $2000cad instrument. The shoebox is okay but really how much would it cost Elektron to include proper protection.

I have almost 20 Decksavers and none of them have bent sides, even the large ones for the Summit and Digitone Keys fit so perfectly that there is almost an air seal, and when placed on the synth they settle down as air whooshes out of the sides. I think there must have been a manufacturing issue with the TV model because I’ve never seen anything like these severely bent sides before, some of these photos are crazy.

I sent Electron support an email about the cover, but they don’t know how to respond to emails.

Mine is a perfect fit. So, other than it being too expensive, we’re all good!

Maybe if you heat it to a couple hundred degrees

Any news with the latest batch. Thinking about buying one now

Just ordered one yesterday from Detroit Modular, hard to say if it will be from a newer or older batch, but will report back about the fit.

I recently received one from Perfect Cir cut and it fits correctly.

I have two PL-5’s now from Thomann.
The 1st one was really too tight and I had to bend it to fit and it was hard to get it off again. Thomann send me a 2nd one and this one’s slightly better, but still have to force it on and it still feels kinda jammed when getting it off. I’ve been asked to make a video to send to Thomann so they can see what’s wrong with it…

I’m also on my second Decksaver, and my Tonverk hasn’t been working for several weeks because I’m renovating my studio. I left the Decksaver stuck on the Tonverk, hoping it would ā€œexpandā€ a bit and fit the TV, but nothing has changed. I already wrote to Elektron a few days ago, and I’m not the only one. I think they should be the ones to solve the problem at this point.

A hot air gun might help to bend its corners and edges (my Syntakt Decksaver fits also a little bit too tight) but be careful it can easily burn you very badly and deform the Decksaver and set your house on fire as well.
