Saved by the bell. I read the list through one by one and thought ”Well these are all kinda ok albums. I like most of them too.”

But then came the crescendo and the climax. Voivod’s Nothingface. Can’t even remember any of the other albums mentioned before it. That is one perfect ten out of ten album and for that reason I give your whole list full points.

There was a time when I listened to nothing but De-Loused in the Comatorium. I’d definitely also put it on my top 10 if I ever get around to trim the list down to only 10.
The Mars Volta are back together and also dropped their first single in 10 years yesterday (and its really good). Didn’t expect that, I thought they were done for good. Exciting times!

Definitely need to agree on Automatic For The People, even though New Adventures In Hi-Fi is my favourite album from them. Also Yankee Hotel Foxtrot is up there with the greats. Love Arthur Russell too, maybe would’ve picked Calling Out Of Context from him myself.

I absolutely adore and worship Nostalgia Ultra and Channel Orange and was anxiously waiting for Blonde to come out and when it finally did I didn’t get it. I tried and tried but just did not get it. I’ve tried two or three times since and I feel like I’m somehow simple or something for not understanding the beauty in it. I’m sure there will be a day when it finally opens up for me and I’ll fall in love with the album. I’ll keep on waiting.

Yeah, New Adventures is great but Automatic for the People is more attached to nostalgia for me. My parents used to play it a lot when i was a kid and was often the soundtrack to our family beach trips.

World of Echo was my introduction to Arthur Russell’s music and I quickly became obsessed with it. At this point it’s probably the album I listen to the least but it’s definitely gotten the most plays and also happens to be one of the “most influential” albums on my list.

I hope that day comes for you. I don’t think Blonde is a perfect album, but it distills so many ideas and feelings. Its best moments feel like a fragmented dream of contemporary pop music
