Performance - How to go about muting/unmuting multiple tracks?

This is kind of a newbie question, but I’ve been, I believe, getting into the bad habit of muting/unmuting tracks with function+trk # etc, which is fine if you have both hands free, but if I need to mute/unmute something on both my Octatrack and A4, how should I be doing this?

Initially, I thought I should set a knob in performance to the AMP volume for both tracks but it doesn’t seem to work properly, nor is it really quite that instant.

Is the only (and I suppose actually ‘best practice’) solution to have the triggers setup in another pattern and just switch patterns instead?

lol no!

first 6 trigs in peformance mode can mute/unmute tracks when grid-rec is not enabled…
also, hold FN and press trigs to arm mutes/unmutes, then release FN to apply…
