Perform and record single outs? i dont get it!

this might be a noob question, but i just dont get it…
i want to perform created patterns on my RYTM (MK1) live and record them to seperate mixter tracks in my DAW using the RYTMs single out via cable. If i do that, it records just the dry signal from the channels, all FX i used in RYTM is gone. so all my patterns sound recorded completely wrong…
i know that the RYTM FX is on the master Track, but i couldnt be the only one who want to perform their patterns live on RYTM with FX and Finetune it later in the DAW?
i cant imagine that this is a possible flaw in design?
which part i dont get here?
i want to do it the analog way with cables to my interface, not with USB to save CPU power.
is this even possible?

There’s a hundred threads on this topic btw

It’s really simple - there’s one stereo FX block

So, how could you possibly send 8 drum voices through that and separate them out once that one bus is full of a mix of the 8 voices - you’d need 8 separate FX chains - the AR doesn’t have that, just one - the OT has 8 FX chains but these are obviously not as special as the AR FX where more of the CPU can be dedicated to the algorithm

You’d need to record each voice through the mains individually or get fx to add to the dry outs, best check out the older threads with workarounds

Hi apparatgerat,

Unfortunately it doesn’t sound like the Rytm’s individual outs are meeting your needs. For some people the fact that the Rytm sends individual, dry outputs is perfect.

For example, I have the 8 outs wired to a patchbay where I can pull one or two specific drum sounds that I want to EQ or add outboard effects that don’t exist on the Rytm. Otherwise I make use of the stereo out and the simple, but functional, stereo FX block that is built-in.

Either way, I feel for you since you were hoping for different behavior. As avantronica says, people have described the process to record each individual drum track. It may take a few recording passes to accomplish, but you’ll have the sounds + FX you’re hoping for.

Good luck!

You can also record the sum of all the fx from the mains, if you get your mix right it’s an option rather than recording 8 times…

The general concept of the AR is that, like a lot of instruments, you can use it as an all-in-one box for the drum sounds and the built-in effects. For this configuration, you just need to connect the main stereo outputs.

If you have a more extensive studio with additional effects, you can choose to use one or more individual outputs from the AR for external processing.
