Hi there!
Anyone know which pedals allow tapping in custom delay division?
I know the empress echosystem has it in the ‘multi’ setting, but curious to hear which other pedals have such a feature!
Thanks in advance!

Any delay pedal with “tap tempo” will do this. I use an EHX Canyon, which has multiple delay modes and works well, but is mono only
Avalanche run !
No this is not what i mean
Tap tempo will usually set the temp but the division is still regular.
Echosystem will let you tap a rytm and will set that as a combination of several divisions (so it will literally record what you tap)
Does avelanche run do this too?
Deluxe Memory Man TT pedals have tap tempo, and a button to cycle through time divisions.
Bonus tip: hold the same button down for ~2 seconds and it cycles through the divisions, for some trippy results.
Eventide H9 also has custom divisions, for multiple delays.
The Red Panda Particle allows for different divisions per parameter, so you can have lots of crazy stuff going on and it’s storable per preset as well
I think what is being asked is not tap tempo related
For example
Whatever the tempo , the user can input the ‘ sequence’ or timing of each trigger of the delay sound
So if wanted they could input slowing down triggers( longer delays between each subsequent delay trigger) , 3 repeats , 17 repeats if wanted along a measure / fixed period of time.
There are a few iOS plugins I’ve seen which do this , I’m not aware of hardware pedal though.
To repetw , it’s not arbitrarily using tap tempo for overall tempo of delays , it’s an ability to specifically define when those delays might trigger over ( for example ) 4 bars.
Or I’m wrong and it is something more mundane and normal.
I’m pretty sure you are the first one who is right ![]()
You can program a ZOIA to do the same – I’ve got a couple patches that employ this approach, e.g.
Empress echosystem and the older empress superdelay are the only one, that I know, that have this tap feature.
You are right, I was not talking about tap tempo, but tapping in your sequence/divisions, that can be anything, it just plays back exactly what you tap in as a delay (max 5 taps in case of the echosystem).
Pretty awesome feature I must say.
Digitech Time Bender sort of does it. You hold a pedal down and play in a rhythm and it tries to match it. I don’t think it lets you just tap the rhythm though.
Sorry for misunderstanding and setting this thread in the wrong direction initially! For the record, neither the Canyon nor the Avalanche Run will do what you are looking for
I think what your are looking for is a “multi-tap delay”. It looks like eventide has a fancy new one.
Also the 4ms tapographic delay but it’s eurorack not a pedal.
A bit like this … though this uses a sequencer to define when each delay is triggered
So you can define a normal 1/16 1/32 delay if you wanted by using a normal regular sequence or make something weird
Personally I prefer tempo / grid syncd delays
With this you could effectively get near a ‘tapped in delay’ though it would be quantised to the step divisions
