Patterns in DT

Sorry if this is basic. I’ve been changing patterns on the DT1 and enjoying mangling them significantly before changing.

After 6 or 7 patterns have been mangled, the track ends and now every pattern is completely messed up. I use the pink mutes rather than the green ones but all the mutes are also rearranged if I’ve been playing with them.

What do I have to do to get back all the original pattern: again as I programmed them? I’ve been reloading the entire project every time.

I’d also like to mangle a pattern, move to another and then return back to the original pattern within the same performance, but I can do that either.

I thought that the Func+NO behavior was to reload (restore) all patterns from the last temporary save, so ie whatever it was at when you turned the machine on, unless you did a Func+YES save during performance.

Reloading on a project level goes back to the last hard save you did in the menu, which serves the same purpose but might not be entirely necessary.

Is it not working that way for you? It should immediately revert to the save state, even with the sequencer running.

I think I have to go back to make sure I hit FUNC NO before I leave the pattern while it’s playing or it’s totally messed up when I return to it. Im getting confused over what’s happening.

Well, I’ve done pattern chains and used Func+NO to restore back to the original state. I guess I can’t speak to manual pattern shifting though.

If you have moved through several patterns changing each then you will need to either revisit each one and func+no to return them to their pre mangled state or reload the whole project if you had temp saved any of the patterns post mangling.
It would be super useful if they could add a reload pattern to original state on change toggle.

If it is something you are doing often it might be worth making duplicate sets of patterns, have say 8 on the top row and 8 on the bottom and leave the bottom row untouched so you can return to the original state if you want.
I suppose it isnt possible to hold PTN, TRIG, FUNC AND NO at the same time?, like when you paste to a non running pattern but with reload to temp added on.

Thank you Matt - right that’s where it’s all going weird. Very frustrating you can’t change back to a pattern and have it the same as it was when you started. You’re right that should be an optional feature.

It would have to be optional though as its really useful to be able to find it as you left it too.

I think thats the point of such things, right?
I don’t know if the hunt for perfect workflow makes this joy better.
