Maybe this has been brought up before:
I really hate the octa for not being able to lock default samples per track per pattern.
Is there a setting so that samples will ‘stick’ to their patterns?
I’m confused…

That’s the/a purpose of parts. However, you only got 4 for 16 patterns, so that you can’t change the default samples for each pattern.
as far as i can tell… parts keep info about “default sample” (the one that triggers if you do not plock another sample).
so if you want default samples per track per pattern… you need a part per pattern. and you dont have that.
this is probably why some are screaming for part per pattern.
clear…
so its just a sucky implementation.
It is indeed a limitation.
I would be glad to have 1 part = 1 pattern too.
But limitation force to be creative and see the machine in an other way.
So i tried to take advantage of that limitation, and i found a good way i think :
In a bank i always assign like this :
That way, i use patterns 1, 5, 9 and 13 as different “songs”, and each 3 remaining are variations of the main song pattern. 4 patterns for a song on which you can switch while playing live. Not bad.
