I started mucking around with patterns and chains the other day as I needed a 128-count phrase and couldn’t achieve the results I wanted just by doing a 64 in 1/2x in the pattern scale.
I linked pattern A1 to A2 to allow me a fuller progression but - and the manual is absolutely no help here - I can’t see a way of editing patterns once in chains mode. Selecting A1 or A2 to edit it merely adds another instance to the chain, often in the wrong place.
This seems a bit counter-intuitive as in order to jam about on a longer phrase I still need access to both patterns to edit them. It would be ok if coming out of chain mode meant you could edit and then jump back in, but the chain is apparently instantly forgotten once you come out of the mode!
Am I doing something stupid / wrong? Or is this a case of ‘oh that’s not how that function is meant to work’ (which is a type of design I hate - I like to be able to tell machines how I want to work, not the other way around!).
Any help gratefully received… I’ve read the manual section several times and it doesn’t clear anything up for me. A search of the forum reveals another post from nov 14 but I wonder if anything has changed since then.
