I have a real problem (OS 1.1b) to store patterns with different kits.
For example: I program and save a pattern E01 with a loaded kit say 18 Pinholes.
Next I copy the pattern E01 to E02. Now I load kit 12 Argon and store the pattern E02.
The sound in pattern E02 has changed. If I now select pattern E01 it plays also the kit 12 Argon instead 18 Pinholes.
I can not figure out how I save pattern with different kits. But without this the A4 is nearly useless.
Can somebody help me an tell me what I do wrong?
bit dramatic, no !
from the manual
go to Sequencer Config
KIT RELOAD ON CHG will cause kits to reload to their saved state automatically as soon as a new kit becomes active. This is useful if you for example play live and have tweaked a kit, want to save it and then return to a pat- tern featuring the same kit, but with its original settings.
try 1.1c as well !
Each pattern is connected to one of the kits. By default, if you move into an empty pattern, your current kit will be used. Use the load kit operation to select kit for each of your patterns. The load kit operation (and also the save kit operation) always affect the very active pattern, so if you want to create a new pattern with new sounds, make sure you change to the new pattern before you pick the new kit.
So it should be very straight-forward to set up what you want. Given two already-saved kits, you just activate pattern E01 and Load Kit 18, and then activate pattern E02 and Load Kit 12. Done. As long as there are any trigs in the patterns, the patterns will remember their kit connections. No need to use pattern save function.
As soon as you make any changes that you want to keep inside each of the kits, you should perform a kit save (Kit+Yes).
The KIT RELOAD ON CHG feature might help you if you feel confused about the states of each kit, but once you know your way around you might want to save and reload kits manually instead, for greater flexibility.
Hi Myhrman,
thank you that explains it to me I will try to do so.
Perhaps another “quit” stupid question:
Sometimes I have trouble to save an existing pattern to another pattern location (say E01 to E02). I do the follwing:
During E01 is running I press Function + Rec (the display shows Copy pattern).
Next I select the destination pattern (E02) and than I press Function + Paste.
But nothing happens (not Trigger steps are copied).
Do you know why?
Thank you I will try and update to 1.1c
