So in my setup i’m sending MIDI notes from Ableton to Analog Keys via usb… and at the same time I want to write some parameter locks automation on the device itself but it doesnt work for some reason. As long as device receives MIDI notes it doesnt “read” its own automation. When it stop receiving MIDI notes parametr locks autimation works perfectly.
It has been asked and cleared up a few times over the years, maybe tricky to find, but nonetheless it is working as expected. Incoming MIDI supersedes the sequencer data, parameter locks are part of the sequencer. Midi will play the current kit sound values.
As a way to demo parameter locks whilst the sequencer is stopped in grid edit mode, just hold the trig and play the MIDI keyboard on the auto channel, but be sure to make the last note you play be the sequenced one (with same velocity) otherwise you will re-program the sequence (in case that’s an issue) … but you cannot play along to previously sequenced parameter variations in the way you want
