Parameter locks behave differently on Thru tracks?

Hi All,
After a long period away from the Octatrack (sold and re-bought recently), I’m running into behavior I don’t remember.

On Thru tracks, a parameter locked value will “stomp” the non-locked parameter setting. And it won’t change unless you change the value again, or it reaches another p-locked stage. For example:

  • Blank Thru track
  • On step 8 p-lock filter all the way down
  • Hit play

Steps 1-7, filter will be open (or whatever unlocked value is)
@ Step 8, filter will change to all the way down (expected p-locked value)
!>> As pattern continues looping, filter freq stays all the way down. It never returns to the non-locked value. Only does tweaking the value reset it (until step 8 comes along again of course).

This is really frustrating as it basically requires me to p-lock (or real-time record) every step. It’s not exclusive to filter frequency or any parameter. but, I’ve only found it to be happening on Thru tracks.

Bug? Limitation?

Thanks!

I’ve noticed on static/flex tracks that this is how it behaves when you use fuction+step to parameter lock things without triggering the sample. You get a green led above that step instead of a red one. Is that how you are setting p-locks on your thru track?
