Overhub plus alternative MTT USB hubs

Ridiculous price for a USB hub but not surprised.

Dilemma: go for “Overpay” or find out which Chinese Multi-TT hub they rebranded?

Reminds me of the OP-1 antenna :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

I have already purchased 4 hubs that does not work, and they were all as expensive as this, and I spent days in valuable time trying to research what hubs are Multi-TT to no certainty. Instant purchase for me!

Not actually using Overbridge anymore as there’s way too much latency, but still hoping they fix that or at least make it possible to use the editors without latency/audio.

sounds ridiculous but ive always wanted a tank usb hub, which this looks like it’ll be.

I’ve had a flimsy little unpowered thing for years which does ok for a couple of small midi controllers, but the leap to Elektron stuff and OB certainly stole a few ports in the process, as well as most audio interfaces being usb these days

i dunno im kinda stoked with this and have been looking for something as sleek and well built as it for a while.

and a great compliment for your elektron gear which u know is tried and tested in QC

cheers!

Yup, didn’t waste time trying to figure what will or wont work. The additional cost is worth it to me to know that one Elektron branded device will work with other Elektron branded devices.

Easy purchase. C’mon people, you paid thousands of dollars for these machines and now you want to be cheap and moan over a $65 accessory?

Srsly?

does it work with logic pro x?

Yeah, I was being a bit “Overthetop” - by the way, is it powered? It looked unpowered from the pics at Elektron.
On the other hand, with the crappy Canadian dollar and shipping costs, I think I’ll try a few local hubs and return them if they don’t work.

Powered.
No mention of power supply included, so probably works fine unpowered, but can be powered if need be.

What 7-port Multi-TT hub are you looking at that’s significantly cheaper?

I see your point, and for the most part can agree that trifling about sub-$100 purchases when you’re using expensive gear is silly, but I also think that you’re paying $20+ more than necessary just because it has “Elektron” printed on the top. Who knows, maybe I’ll change my mind after I get a few Overbridge enabled boxes and find that there is no better alternative.

with USB 3.0 capability, at that…

i did a search of amazon and general google search and only USB 2.0 versions came up w.Multi TT.

btw… the price of the Overhub includes shipping

it may be at the high end of the price scale for USB hub but it appears to be on the front end of specs as well. maybe in 3 to 6 months there will be more options for less $$ but for now this looks the business for trouble free peripheral + overbridge connectivity.

is a bummer it doesn’t come w/a PSU though i’m sure I can dig one up for nothing locally.

OverPriced?

Not by much. My recent search for a good quality 7 port MTT 3.0 hub wasn’t far off this price.

Though I assume it needs to plug into a 3.0 port? And it doesn’t come with any elektron luxury USB cables?

If the port you are plugging into supplies adequate power, you don’t need a PSU?

Just ordered this, the price is not that far off from USB hubs I’ve been looking at, and this one is going to work straight out of the box.

I seriously so do not want to invest time in a USB hub… ugh

I have yet to find a hub that ships with a PSU. They rarely do. Not saying that that doesn’t suck, but it is a bit unfair to bitch at Elektron for that. Bitch at the world. Life. Socialism…

exactly this!

Is there a problem with the shopping cart? I am unable to checkout because my address no longer includes the state I live in. I tried to change it, and I could enter the state/province, but I could not select USA as a country. ‘Spain’ is the last choice in the list.) I’ve tried in Firefox, Chrome and Safari. I can’t buy overhub until this is resolved! :disappointed:

What’s weird is they shipped me a USB cable just a few weeks ago.

Hi all,

I’m new in this forum and maybe it is a stupid question.

What problem should solve this overhub for me?

The limitation is the bandwidth of 12 Mbit/s per unit - right?
Can I use more channels via USB to my PC with this 7x USB 3.0 MTT then with a direct connection to my 3.0 USB port?

I guess not.

If anyone have problems with USB transmission speed or bandwidth, a PCI or PCIe card with a root hub could be a better solution.

Do I miss something?

an MTT hub just protects the bandwidth allocation to a mixture of slow and fast devices - otherwise with a couple of slow devices on a normal hub the rest of the hub gets compromised - so, no, it doesn’t work any better or offer any more channels - it just ensures that for all USB peripheral types (especially when using older slower ones) the allocation is optimised for all
.
there are plenty other options for usb3 mtt hubs but they won’t be as smart or sturdy - I’m delighted with the one I have because it works perfectly as a boring old USB3 hub, it’s not rocket science - they’re only harder to source because they solve an old problem associated with using slow legacy USB protocols, such as the one Elektron were forced to use as the electrical noise was apparently an issue when tested at maximum USB 2 bandwidth (480)

Hey Avantronica,
thanks for the answer!

It looks like this is not a product for me, but If anyone build a big Elektron rig for a live event with a notebook it could be the right ‘rock solid’ product for him/her.

Maybe Elektron lean me some more devices and I can test the limits of this usb hub.
