Hi! I recently got my first piece of Elektron gear, the Analog Rytm MKII. It’s been an absolute blast, but I’m struggling to realize my ideal routing even after digging through multiple related threads on this forum (which have been very helpful to get to this point). To get straight to the current question puzzling me - when you use overbridge to route a track from Ableton to the AR’s Main FX L & R, how are the reverb and delay mixed? I’m assuming there’s no way to actually control the routed track’s reverb and delay sends - if that’s the case, is there a default value they’re set to?
The larger problem I’m trying to solve is I’d like to:
- Pass some of the AR’s channels through effects pedals (using the per-channel outs on the back of the AR)
- Mix them and pass them back into the AR’s audio in
- In ableton, have a track that takes in the AR’s audio in channels and routes them to the AR’s Main FX L & R
- As a sanity check: turning off the routed channels’ main and fx sends, connecting the channel outs directly to the mixer (no effects in the line), and setting the mixer levels (individual and final mix) correctly should recreate a sound that’s quite close to the sound you’d get standalone with the AR.
However, I can’t get that final step to work. It’s difficult to fully qualify the difference, but it essentially sounds less “full” and I’m thinking the reverb & delay sends are either quite low or skipped entirely. I’m not trying to recreate the “standalone” sound one for one, but right now the result is considerably worse to the extent that it doesn’t feel worthwhile to route those AR tracks externally.
