Overbridge Consumes Excessive CPU When a Separate Channels are Used

Hello there,

I’m using a rather top spec laptop (a late 2015 13 "MBP, i7 3,1GHz ).

When OB for AR and A4 are loaded in Live, typical CPU consumption for a particular set of mine is 45% (single core), Live would show 10% load.

That’s all cool but the problem starts when I use separate channels of the AR.

When I remove main channels and add all the separate voices CPU consumption rises to 80%. Live’s load meter jumps to around 30%.

A4 does not exhibit such behaviour and does not impose an extra load in my system when main or separate channels are used.

It could be argued that the extra load might be tolerated but when things add up, it might just cause the fan to kick in, and it just disturbs me.

Anybody else experience this “problem”?

Does Elektron intend to optimize OB for AR further (as it is said to be optimized in the latest release notes).

Some configuration and their rough ballpark CPU consumption on single core:
OB with Main Channels only: 45% CPU
OB with Main Channels + BD: 55% CPU
OB with Main Channels + BD + SD: 60% CPU
OB with Main Channels + BD + SD + RS/CP: 75% CPU
OB with Main Channels + BD + SD + RS/CP + BT: 80% CPU
