Overbridge as iOS/iPadOS app?

And now, if we all could kindly invite you to the Toneverk thread for some additional fantastic news, that would be double great!

I have no idea what I’m going to do with this as I’ve never plugged my Digitakt into a computer! but very excited to try this out as I suspect iPad plus Digitakt could be an amazing combo for effects, looping and more. Amazing work.

I also hope this gets more device manufacturers to start introducing multichannel audio in and out via usb. Ideally we’ll get to the point where this is standardised and just a normal thing along with USB midi with no extra software / drivers required and the possibility for devices to talk to each other this way too in a chain.

who cares about tonverk? this is the best surprise eva!

Yeah. Adding features to existing devices is a million times better than releasing new devices all the time. Well done again Elektron.

Fantastic news! Someone finally cracked DriverKit development?!

My M4 iPad Pro loves these news!

Syntakt + M1 iPad (mini? hehe) + multi out interface = indiouts on ST <3

This is super cool, shame my iPad falls short of the required spec, its still going strong and would be hard to justify buying a new one for this but it would be amazing to multitrack in on the couch and start laying out some stems

Checking this claim, and found that app developer can choose to build universal app (based on apple silicon and x86) and not just Arm only apps.
I can understand that developer would target only apple arm chips by choosing latest Xcode and Sdk, but saying it’s in Apple hands is a bit strange.
Maybe developer doesn’t have to put app restrictions and allows for users with older iPad to use it.
But ok i found answers online on this topic and i can see advantages of moving to Apple Silicon chips

M1 tier iPads should be quite affordable by now at places such as backmarket et al, no?

just checked, they are around 350USD and up… So still not cheap as chips…

Is this overbridge an addition to the i/o of an audio interface or does it act like the audio interface itself?

Cehck this out:

Pretty good solution for indiouting via OB2 & iPad perhaps? The outputs are rca level (-10) so not pro audio tier output levels, but should be aight for casual stuff. Cheap and compact enough so I could see myself using this at my home setup…

This would be sick if we could only get confirmation on whether OB + iPad can stream and record from multiple units. Really excited for this tbh & potentially bye bye to Bluebox, it’s been a great ride  The Overhub is ready!

I’m sure furhter details will be coming soon. And even if everything’s not yet ready, or might be buggy, the future looks bright

That concerns Intel Macs, there are no x86 iPads. Pre-M1 iPads used e.g. Apple’s A12X, which do not support DriverKit.

I use Cubasis on iPad and really like it better than Logic and the likes as it is very clean and could be the perfect multitrack ā€œPortastudioā€ for DT/DN/ST.

I asked about that and it seems to be more down to the interface than the software.

This is cool to see.

Definitely seemed like a missing link for Overbridge.

DTII and an iPad would be an incredibly nice setup

I wonder if transfer will come too .

I’m not too bothered about the other bits of overbridge ( patch editing etc ) … would rather audio streaming got released first.
Though tbf my iPad is too old so I’ll stick with MacBook m1
