Overbridge isn’t just gonna turn anyone’s iPad into a Tonverk. That’s a ton of workflow, MIDI control, and VST/AUM setup to implement yourself just to have a less fun (but more modular/powerful) version of Tonverk that has no physical audio jacks, encoders, or keys to manipulate.
I don’t know if Tonverk will get overbridge or not. I would prefer true class compliant USB multichannel audio interface as an option but Tonverk existing shouldn’t have anything to do with whether or not they create a way to use Overbridge, a plugin that works with many other pieces of hardware, on iPads considering they have enough horsepower to be used for multitrack recording and editing in a DAW and now even have Logic Pro and Bitwig to host Overbridge. I think if Ableton also releases an iPad port they’d do it for sure but seems like Ableton has avoided this so far.
Furthermore, implying that Overbridge turns any device into a Tonverk means that Elektron should discontinue Overbridge as an application on Windows and Mac.
Not to call this out too much beyond context, but what I dislike the most about threads where people wring hands about things that are not publicly released is that the long tail for worrying or getting angry about things that do not currently exist goes on forever and feeds into itself and devolves into competing fantasies and worries completely ungrounded in reality.
It’s a collective version of the quote from Seneca “We suffer more in our imagination more often than in reality.”

If one could just build their own TV via an ipad the same could then be said of the DT’s, DN’s, and the digital engines within the ST as well, but that’s not the case because ipads and computers even paired with pretty much any midi controller one could possibly own or build themself can never truly offer the discrete fixed tactile UX that a dedicated standalone piece of hardware offers. Even the NI Maschine’s somewhat hybrid integration with computers, or the current generation of MPC’s DAW in a controller approach lacks some of the magic that standalone hardware where the OS is specifically and tightly designed in concert with the physical UX it is paired with in a way that just isn’t possible to achieve when a machine is designed to “do it all” as a computer or tablet is.
My turn!

This would be SUCH a gamechanger. Elektron, please make this happen! I promise not to complain about it.
Looking forward to this when it is available. I use my Elektron devices with iOS a lot already, so this would unlock so much fun and an entirely new and flexible workflow. I will gladly pay for the app version of overbridge on iOS when it’s released.
I’m still unclear why Multitrack over USB isn’t just working out of the box as it is with the Polyend Tracker+ and MPC Live 3. We don’t need any special software to access these tracks as they work natively when plugged into an iPad or Mac.
Shouldn’t Elektron just focus on Multitrack over USB without building software they will have to support with every new iPadOS update and release?
My wish too, since if they go Ob route it’s probably gonna be only for M-chip based ipads.
I think they wanna have this closely controlled with an app, same with pc/mac versions.
Wouldn’t overbridge allow multiple devices to be connected at the same time, whereas class compliant multitrack over USB would only allow for one device at a time?
For me at least, just one device at a time with multitrack would be a godsend, and more than enough on a portable device like the iPad/iPhone.
