Overbridge as iOS/iPadOS app?

it works perfectly, just 8 months of unit tests to be written so not too bad.

If someone uses Elektron equipment with Overbridge this can be a good step forward for an Elektron/iOS combo.

It seems Elektron needs the support of users to decide whether to launch this marveling function

This post via Elektron on Facebook makes it seem very much already ā€œin betaā€ and I would say, very likely that they intend to follow through.

ā€œBig thanks to everyone that came to our booth at @superbooth_berlin last week! It was a busy one and we loved meeting every one of you, and was especially great unveiling the live beta testing of Overbridge multitrack streaming for iPad (we’ll keep you posted on that :))ā€

Just as you have described it.

This looks like it will be released no matter what.

This makes me even more excited than tonverk

why not both? This will also support Tonverk (eventually) no doubt

id rather new hardware came out without ā€˜the usual issues’ *(not unique to any hardware developer) than this came out.
so if the dev teams are impacted… please concentrate on hardware and firmware fixes for existing hardware.

i think its fair to say if someone might not be interested too, but obviously let elektron judge if this becomes something they can focus on . it becomes another platform to deal with if overbridge gets updated too… currently its just mac/pc which has to cover multiple pieces of hardware / OS’s etc… the QA work for a solid release gets bigger and bigger. again it’s for elektron to judge if they have the resources to deal with that .

i havent looked into this deeply , but m1 equiped ipads are fairly new and you can likely get a 2nd hand macbook air m1 or upwards for similar price… i mostly like my old ipad due to pencil/touch screen… … and many fx apps are much cheaper than desktop (and sound as good)… plus using AUM allows very flexible / modular like routing.

the idea of a small ipad strapped to a small multiout interface is a good alternative to that hardware box some people are waiting for. it could also be a nice small touch based mixing / recorder.

I’d like to see more updates to Overbridge itself, especially in UI.

  • Random LFO Wave Shape in UI (it’s just a static image without a phase position)
  • Syntakt SY CHORD ā€˜Waveform’ parameter is still just an encoder/dial (previously mentioned here). In Digitone II WaveTone it shows the wave shapes for WAV1/WAV2 when using HARM mode for TBL1/TBL2
  • Filter & Amp Envelope Shape in UI (per my understanding, the UI is incorrect and doesn’t accurately show where linear or exponential curves are factually used).

probably better for the overbridge feature request / feedback thread .

M1 iPads have been out for 4 years, you can even get an M1 iPad Air refurbished from Apple for $380… obviously cheaper 3rd party.

I’m sure Elektron has thought carefully about how to deploy their limited resources. The use of iOS for music is increasing. I personally think that it’s a better environment than my laptop (I have keyboard and trackpad available, plus touch screen) and the apps are an order of magnitude cheaper (this may not last). As an example, the new Instruo Seashell semi-modular is a hybrid that has a PC/Mac app for greater control, and I thought, if only that were available for an iPhone, it would be so much more portable…

That would be great.

I use Drambo to control Digitakt/Digitone and it’s great, so if you can now also use via OB a is a gamechanger

I Use Drambo long ago and can be programmed and used like OT scenes/crossfader and even with more alternatives.

It’s just wonderful

I use the iPad with the Digitakt all the time as it is, ever since they made it a compliant audio interface for sampling and MIDI. To put Overbridge on it too would be icing on the cake.

Am I right in thinking this didn’t work with the A series chips, so only iPad Air and pro?

Correct, ThomasJ confirmed this earlier in the thread:

Many thanks. What a shame the mini isn’t M series, the regular iPad feels so big.

Drambo is the best thing ever. I love that you can have any idea and a few minutes it exists.

Same for me, it’s a dream if I can use overbridge with Drambo, the routing would be a game changer ! (pre listening gears for exemple)
Please please Elektron !

Exactly, I would never buy a regular sized iPad after having the Mini for a long while now. The perfect form factor.
