Overbridge and audio device question

I’m currently maxed out with my MiniFuse4 and synths to the point where when I want to record anything from my Digitakt2 I have to unplug two patch cables. It’s my current understanding that I’ll be ok once Overbridge is released for it as I’ll get audio through the current Digitakt2 USB connection… or will I? Or would it be best to get say a Focusright 18i20 or similar and have all sound coming through an audio device?

Have you tried normal audio over USB from your digitakt 2? Overbridge adds a more comprehensive interface and additional recording lanes to accommodate multitracking, but the audio interface part of dt2 already works. You should be able to see dt2 in your daw as a class compliant audio device, assign it, and record a stereo track of the master L/R over USB. If I’m misunderstanding let me know, but you shouldn’t have to unplug audio cables to record dt2 if you’re connected over usb.

You could even record external (synth etc) audio via the dt2 inputs into your daw, using the digitakt as an interface. As far as expanding your standalone interface you could do that if you had other reasons to, but the ekektron device just needs a stable USB connection and you’ll be good, and again even better when overbridge arrives.

Ah sweet, thank you. I’ll try that later.

My confusion is within Live (suite 11) as I thought within Audio preferences I had to choose EITHER MiniFuse OR Digitakt2.

I don’t know a lot about configuring live so I’m not much help there, but I think you should be able to use both, I’m just not certain how the setup works. Someone will know though.

This is what Google says, does any of this sound correct?

Yeah I’ve seen aggregate device mentioned actually. Thanks again, appreciate it.

No worries.

Just a quick one for anyone else in same situation. Aggregate device works a treat on Mac (with Live).

Boom!

Awesome, glad it worked for you! Should make life a little easier for now.

Make sure you select drift correction for any part of your aggregate device, otherwise one of them will be horribly out of sync.

I will do, thanks. There was something I changed that previously had everything gaining a few bpms each time round!
