Hello fellow Elektronauts !
I want to share with you the new EP of a (fairly new) project of mine.
A year ago, I started releasing single tracks as The Arkanist. After 11 singles, I’m happy to announce the release of my 1st EP next Friday (06.02.2023).

It’s not out yet but I published a few teasers on Instagram (more to come).

I’m posting this today because I’m doing an online listening party, in the form of a premiere video on YouTube.
We’ll be listening to the record while having a chat.
It will happen on Thursday June 1st, at 10PM CEST Paris time / 9PM BST London time / 4PM EDT New York time / 1PM PDT L.A time / 6AM AEST Sydney time.

It will happen here:

(Click on the “notify me” button to get a reminder when it starts)

More details about the record:

It’s a 7 tracks EP called “Our Own Eclipses”.

I composed the tracks mainly on a Roland SP404Mk2 & the iOS Koala sampler, before refining, mixing and mastering them in Ableton.
I used samples I designed myself mainly using what used to be my Eurorack system.

The music on this record fall into the instrumental/abstract HipHop category while having trip hop, glitch-hop, electronica and dub accents. It relies heavily on rich textures & experimental sound design that is more often found on (dark) ambient & drone records.

I guess that if you like Definitive Jux and El-P type of production, Burial, Lorn, the Wordsound + Big Dada + Brainfeeder labels, the more hiphop based releases on warp records (like Prefuse 73), you will probably feel in a familiar place.

It will be available exclusively on Bandcamp, in 2 versions:

The standard one, that includes the 7 tracks, their instrumental versions and a mix of the full EP.

The “Producer Edition” will include what’s in the standard version + more than 200 samples (2 Gb) taken from the sound design sessions I did. You’ll find the samples I used for the tracks but most of the samples are ones I didn’t end up using.

I hope I’ll see some of you at the listening party !

Of course, I’ll post an update as soon the EP is available on Friday.
Peace !
