I was kinda aware for a long enough time, but I guess subconsciously decided to push thinking about the practical consequences away.
Alas, today will not be the day I quit the internet.
Maybe tomorrow. Or maybe AI will finally learn to be original after hearing my music because it wouldn‘t want to be as shitty! Ha!

It would need to be leave the internet and not use any bluetooth enabled device. Yesterday I got a phone alert and realised it was triggered by me walking by the shop 2 minutes before.

yeah I don‘t feel like going down that rabbit hole, as much as I value my privacy I don‘t think this level of paranoia will be any good for my psyche.
As for AI, I sometimes think about ways to sabotage it, like using a LLM to feed suno the most trashy unlistenable music to train it on just so it becomes even more worthless in a very obvious and possibly hilarious way. AI feedback loops sound kinda intresting but maybe that‘s just the love for delay speaking out of me. But I neither know how that would work or if it would be any good. Nor do I want to spend my time on it. I‘m good not using any AI and I‘m open to discuss it in meaningful ways as long as there‘s anything to say that hasn‘t been said yet. Yay.

This doesn’t make it less worse though, even worse in my opinion. On a large scale, our privacy rights are being violated on a scale never seen before. What are they going to do with this data? How long are they keeping it? Where is it used for? Did they ask you for any approval?
This relates to the current topic. AI bots are scraping all data it can find, including our music (also on this forum) without any consent. Then we need to pay to use their chatbots which are trained on our data. The biggest copyright crime in history, combined with a hyper-commercial model where we pay for each token a chatbot consumes and generates, and we just do not care (enough).
Yesterday I had a mastering workshop and the mastering engineer explained that more than 80% of Spotify traffic is generated by bots. Which also include AI bots. I found these numbers staggering.
To answer the OP: It is totally out of control how and when our data is used for AI training. Personally I find it hard to see our world heading in this direction and see so little resistance from us, “the consumers”. A way of dealing with this is to enjoy life outside the internet, and luckily there is so much to discover and enjoy!

Not the only one. It’s hard to have a serious conversation given this site’s restrictions, paired with the fact the narratives within the subject are completely one sided in terms of media coverage, and said side being the one of cult members and gullible people parroting lies told by the cult members, and logic and reason and facts are relegated to the fringes. How can we have a discussion about it when there’s no consensus reality? 
I’ve been saying this for a few years! It’s incredibly boring and unnecessarily hostile by folks. Take the reply above as an example.!

Exactly. They’re constantly giving you existential anxiety about your job, career, life, future, while they steal your data your work and gaslight you into using their products or else you’ll be left behind and similar nonsense, yet it’s my views and comments the reason the conversation is untenable. Awesome.

Nope. We’ve been trying to get AI to take over my role for a couple of years. Fucking thing can’t do it.
We’ve all got views and we all like to comment. Not all of us want to accommodate other people’s views tho, which is what makes conversation and discussion untenable.
The mere fact that I’m cracking Jesse Ventura based jokes about deathbots might suggest I take this subject significantly less seriously than you might think I do. I generally feel we’d all benefit from taking these things (and ourselves) a lot less seriously.
It’s all a fucking joke, so the appropriate response is always to laugh at it.

i have seen many people spill their guts on-line, and i did so myself until, at last, i began to see that i had commodified myself. commodification means that you turn something into a product which has a money-value. in the nineteenth century, commodities were made in factories, which karl marx called “the means of production.” capitalists were people who owned the means of production, and the commodities were made by workers who were mostly exploited. i created my interior thoughts as a means of production for the corporation that owned the board i was posting to, and that commodity was being sold to other commodity/consumer entities as entertainment. that means that i sold my soul like a tennis shoe and i derived no profit from the sale of my soul.
We all know that was meant for me!

I think some discussions of AI are boring as hell. For example, the ones where people talk about how they used AI to perform some task. I can’ be bothered to read those posts. On the other hand, discussions of AI that touch on important issues related to the global economy, power dynamics, the future of our planet, the meaning of art, the role of an artist, etc…those are interesting to me.
