Other Half-Rack Dual Effectors (like Fostex DE1)?

Anyone know of any other (ideally) half-rack dual effectors (two mono ins, and two stereo outs) like the Fostex DE1.

This little unit is perfectly designed for 2 send mixers (like the Boss BX-8).

I would imagine there’re others with a similar design, but I can’t find anything else.

Oh yeah man, there are heaps!

Mostly all from the 90’s.
Although Yamaha have a bunch of them, the most famous are the BOSS half racks. They started with an SE-50 and then made an improved version - the SE-70. Liam from The Prodigy used to swear by them and said you could never have enough of them! I had like 3 at one point and an SE-50. I also have a VF-1. The VF-1 is superior in terms of specs and the amount of effects but the SE-70 is my favourite because of its overall character. The VF-1 hosts the best RE-201 emu in my opinion. I tested it side-by-side with the BOSS DD500 pedal and it won hands down.

Never heard or seen this Fostex half rack. Noted it down in my gear journal now, thanks!

Sony made a great and strange one in the 90ies:

HR-MP5

This one is a sleeper. In addition to quite cheesy reverb you get some real unique stuff like stepping phasers and weird modulation delays etc.

Every effect has tons of parameters to tweek (several pages)… I really don‘t get why these (and the bigger Sony Units like V-77) seems to be forgotten.

Maybe it‘s because the shitty naming…

Nice suggestions.

Are any of these dual stereo out like the Fostex DE1 though?

It’s not half-rack but the Kawai RV-4 has 4 separate stereo ins and outs. I was looking out for one when I had a little BX setup too but never ended up getting it.

SE-70 does look nice. It’s reputation alone.

But, looking at the manual, it doesn’t look like it can run two effects separately, right? Like [L input] delay, [R input] reverb (mixed internally) → stereo output.

It’s hard for me to believe the Fostex DE-1 is the only half-rack capable of this, but I can’t find anything else…

Nope, it totally can. Albeit, not exactly overexcitingly.

Ive got two stashed in my wardrobe in mint condition. If you want the best price on the net then DM me
Otherwise I’ll keep ‘em. After trawling through that manual for you I kinda wanna dig them out at any rate. Check these patches… I ran my OB6 through a CE300 and then into this SE-70… I think I recorded the dry signal… then added chorus… then added SE-70’s Reverb preset (No. 144)
