Any idea why?
I switched my OT to find that the REC2 is purple, Rec3 is blue, MIX is white, ARR is red and turns white when I press it to enter the arranger setup. As far as I can tell, everything works normal.
I tried restarting but it remains like this.
You can test the constituent colours of the LEDs in test mode
This will show if r g or b for a given led is not illuminating
Test mode may also indicate if another issue is detected which is manifesting the UX in this way

That seems to be a beautiful effect of the Illuminati conspiracy. Lovely colors

Looks like those 4 LEDs are not doing what they are supposed to do…
Does it mean it’s broken?
The switches/LEDs may need replacing, but there may be other explanations for their malfunction. Elektron can advise and depending on its age you may be covered by warranty anyway. Either way they can advise you on your best option. It’s not a major repair either way.

Thanks for your advice.
Will get in touch with elektron.

Now that’s what I call an Anniversary edition

Sad update:
My OT deteriorated further and is now unusable.
I was using it when LEDs started flickering and then more of them lit up in funky colors. This time some of the buttons stopped working as well, such as arrow down and stop button for example. This means that I can’t navigate menus anymore, and after an empty reset I can’t even mount a set.
Super disappointed, as I am in Cyprus for a 2 months holiday, the idea was to spend a lot of time delving deep into my music boxes, of which OT is a centerpiece.
Did some research and found somebody with similar/same issue. Looks like it’s a fried UI PCB board…
Filed a support ticket, but Elektron says support will be slow until the 7th of Jan due to holidays, and then I imagine a backlog. Anyways, don’t think they will be able to help much here in Cyprus.
Cheer me up…

Damn! What a disappointment. How old is your machine, out of curiosity?
Do you happen to have an iPad or iPhone with you? Something like Drambo or Loopy Pro could potentially “fill in” some of the Octatrack duties while you wait for the repair.
Hope you’re able to get it fixed up properly and send us an update on your experience when you can.
What is your OT’s manufacture date?
Curious to see if it matches the others with
this issue. Elektron told me it was a small batch impacted, but seems possible it’s larger scale.

Thanks, friends. Luckily I have a DT and DN here, too, so it’s not complete disaster, but OT was meant to be the main part of my setup. It will be different kind of exploration, just have to accept it.
Assuming the manufacture date is MFGDT: 2021 -W31

I think it’s still within the three year warranty
That’s what I was worried about. This seems to confirm the issue runs beyond a small batch. I have two OTs and both are from around the same time as yours.
As we are now over two years out of this range, we may see more of this. Fingers crossed.

Got a reply today(!) from Elektron, they confirmed it’s still covered with warranty, they will repair it free of charge - I am impressed with the customer service so far!
They suspect it might be a power surge causing this ‘rare failure’. I am not aware of any power surge where I am staying now, there are lots of appliances connected to mains here and nothing else has tripped out. But won’t hurt to plug the Elektrons in into surge-protectors before mains, to be on the safe side.

@Boib - Have the same issue in mine now (MFGDT:2021-W27). Was during a practice session (& not during a gig -Thank God), the lights just started acting up and all the MIDI, Program sends stopped functioning as intended. Tried all possible solution (Reset included), with no luck.
Doubt it is a power surge issue as the device is connected to a good power bar with surge protection with other gear (including the Digitakt).
Just wondering how it went for you finally?

Sent it off to elektron, got it back in about 3 weeks later, all working fine since then.
I don’t think there is a way around it - it’s one of the pcb’s, needs to be replaced. Get in touch with support. Good luck!

Thank you @Boib. Have contacted them, since the holiday season, things will be a bit slower than usual I guess.
Damn thought it was Euclidean mode
