Hi, im in the process of getting funds together to buy a rytm, i currently have the trilogy of MD OT A4
I generally run my MD through the OT to beable to apply scenes and fx , and then run it through the seperate cue outs
I was wondering if the Rytm can emulate some of Ots live fx tricks, notably the FREEZE DELAY (stutter)
i,d imagine all the filter sweeps and heaps of other things are taken care of with the rytms pad scenes
But i find the FD really usefull, and i would rather not have to root the rytm through the OT to get this effect

The sound architecture diagram of the AR shows that the external input connects to the AR’s compressor and nothing else.
I haven’t got the RYTM, and haven’t quite worked out the freeze delay on the OT (I’ve followed the tutorials, but something is still off and it doesn’t quite do what it says on the tin-close, but not as fluid as what it should be), but you can well replicate this with the loopers on a KP3 if you just want to add the functionality in for a little cash.

You Can map the sample loop functionality, with start end and reverse so a scene. It is not a stutter, but i like it.

Yeah that’s kind of what I was thinking… If you set it up right you could get stutter and repeat effects! Not as organic as the instant re sample like freeze delay, but it could maybe work to a similar (pre defined) effect with the right programming. Gonna try it with a loop.
Ok thanks everybody!
Do post if anyone experiments with this
Im quite surprised that they didnt set this up with the delay fx like they did with the OT, its a good trick
I woul hope it would be something Elektron would implement, as it its just a question of parameters isnt it?
On the OT on the delay fx page, you set “lock” on!, feedback to full, set send to full (127) and lock “send” to 0 with a scene (or use “delay ctrl”, then you just need to set the time setting to taste
I could just run the rytm through the OT, but id rather leave it seperate
It’s really unlikely there will be any cross over features like this… Tricks like that are exactly what make one more appealing than the other… That said its all good for inspiration and there’s usually some other trick another box excels at that can be exploited in a new way.
Just watched this new vid about the freeze delay complete with a trans Europe express sample. Tis a very nice effect.
There is no freeze delay feature on the AR.
There’s not really a way to fake it either.
There’s the sample loop trick, but that has a totally different vibe.
Ideally an AR update would let you “roll” sequenced pads by p-locking retrigs, in scenes/perf mode.
Ok Juan, thanks for the info,
dont you find it frustrating that it doesnt exist?
Its basically just a delay trick/sampler,
If the politic is , you need the OT to do this trick, so 1200€ extra, thats pretty schneidy! (excuse my french) I already have the OT,but seeing as it only has 4 outs, you cant have everything running through the OT, and some complain it doesnt sound as good, though in fairness ive never noticed the difference
Soz dood !! Your right it is pessimistic and also realistic. I wasn’t trying to be negative tho. I did try and offer a potential work around, just maybe not a very suitable one.
Maybe a future update could make it a more complete option as JUANsolo suggested.
I’ll try. I’m hardly a power user like some here but it’s got me thinking. It’s exciting to think of these potential future features fo sho and this hadn’t occurred to me yet.
