OT questions: THRU tracks, 1-shot trigs, recognize original tempo

hello fellow Elektronauts!

TLDR: i’m a bit sleep deprived (we have a lovely baby) and need help remembering some OT techniques, please. i’d like to have 4 long stems playing uninterrupted while a Thru Machine lets in an external synth.

i can remember how this can be done via One-Shot Trigs and then arming the trig (yes/yes double tap). this works nicely. but i’m sure there’s other ways to achieve the same result.

related question: how can i get the OT to recognise the original tempo of the stems? is there a way i should name them? now i’m manually changing the tempo per Static file/stem, which is a bit slow! i’m bouncing in 44.1k, but 24-bit. which sounds good. (i know 48k is a disaster with the OT, where it replays it at 44.1 anyway and the tempo/pitch is all out).

long version:

i’m coming back to the OT after several months away from it - we had a lovely baby girl:) - and i could really use some help to get back into it! i’m also a bit sleep-deprived (lovely baby, not always lovely sleep patterns!).

i’m trying to put together a live set, i have a month to prepare but am pretty busy! i’m taking 4 mono stems i’ve written and running them out of the OT into a modular eurorack system. in parallel is a Model Samples and a couple of nice little Dreadbox synths (seq’d from the OT).

for now i’m setting things up inside the OT, using very long stems (5 mins), while i decide on Parts/Scenes and sequence/write some parts for the Dreadbox synths. then i’ll run them into the eurorack modular. and then i will probably consider some shorter stems (so that i have ‘checkpoints’ during the live performance, which aren’t 5 mins long!)

ideally, i would like to get into the OT’s Arranger for a truer live experience. but for now i’m doing something simpler - and if time permits, i’ll explore the Arranger more thoroughly (or that can be a goal for the next set). for now, i’m working with these long stems to get a feel for Parts/Scenes that will work with these ideas… and then i might explore some shorter stem ideas via the Arranger - or manually triggering the new patterns.

any help/thoughts are appreciated!

A baby is not that lovely when they wake you up ! My son is ok now, but he woke me up till this year. He’s 11 yo.

Use trig conditions instead.
1ST or A:B

There is a specific way to write bpm in the tittle, search here or in the manual. I don’t use it, I set it manually if necessary (but I write the bpm in the tittle).

If you want tempo recognition, ideally you have to make stems with a power of 2 length :
1 bar, 2 bars, 4, 8, 16, 32, etc…
And the tempo has to be between 85 - 170 from the manual; but in my experience it is between 80.7 - 161.4 bpm.

thank you:)

ah yes, trig condition 1st is probably what i want. then i don’t need to remember to arm the track

yeh the manual says to put the bpm in the file name. so that is easy:) i blame my sleep-deprived mind!!

PS woke you up until 11yo!! … dear oh dear… boarding school!! haha (joking)

i couldn’t find it in the manual, but saving using the format 140_Title works:)
