OT pickup machine inception

you could have 8 pickup machines running, each one set to consume the contents of the previous pickup machine, they eat each other. with midi loopback and the arranger, string pattern chain together that sends record commands to pickup machines in the right order to record, loop, bounce, record, mute, record, loop. why is this machine scary. i’m literally scared of it

But would it be a cut?

I’d definitely use Recorders and Flex, not Pickups. Eventually 1 Pickup.

Once I made a crazy recording in order to make a Megabreak of Doom slices réorganisation, 8 recorders. Recorders can even record their recordings, so don’t hesitate to experiment!

It reorganises 8 loops you can switch with the crossfader.
Result :

Écouter I want a bullet - Octatrack Megabreak par WiliWoW #np sur #SoundCloud

OT - a machine straight out of hell. Perfectly to celebrate a solitaire Haloween.

The goal was to automate a Megabreak of Doom with the Arranger.
Better to understand how is it made, its purpose…
Octatrack 64 breakbeat x 16 slices megabreak of doom:

1-REC8
Record 8 Loops
It can be 8 loops you mangle with the crossfader, but in my case it was
4 Rage again the Machine loops
4 Beastie Boys
I used all recorders.

2-REC4

Free recorders recording the 8 loops with 4 recorders
I needed more recorders so I grouped recordings by 2
I used recorders R1 R3 R5 R7 to record previous recordings, sample locked. Forget start point values, and focus on colors only.

R1 records previous recordings 1 and 5 (red and green)
R3 records previous recordings 2 and 6 (orange and blue)
etc…

3-RECMATRIX
Record matrix with start points
Here I plocked recordings with start points in order to reorganize slices.
I used recorders R2 R4 R6 R8

4-REC8MATRIX
Back to 8 loops, sample locks of previous R2 R4 R6 R8 recordings.

Thank you so much for explanation
I’m not an Octa-newbie and I know the Megabreak trick but I must be stupid as a donkey because I can’t understand what the hell is happening from second scheme
:unamused:

2nd scheme is pretty simple if you forget start point values, and focus on colors only.

R1 records previous recordings 1 and 5 (red and green)
R3 records previous recordings 2 and 6 (orange and blue)
etc…
