OT Not Booting

I’ve sent a claim to Elektron, but wanted to see what I could learn in the meantime.

I switch on, blank LCD screen. I hold Function while switching on, blank LCD screen. I remove CF, switch on, blank LCD screen. I remove CF, hold Function, and switch on, blank LCD screen.\

I have scoured and have yet to find a solution.

Please help…I love this thing…

Thank you.

First, make sure that you are using the correct power adaptor.

Second, if you have the capability, carefully check whether the power adaptor is working.

I had the exact same problem with my Octatrack. The problem was an internal lead between two circuit boards had become disconnected. Elektron repaired my OT under warranty very quickly.

If my OT had been out of warranty, I could probably opened it up and reconnected the boards myself.

You did the right thing by contacting Elektron.

It shouldn’t be difficult to fix. Good luck!

i had this too. i had to reseat another connector last year after the display kept corrupting.
my OT is about 4 years old and has been moved around/gigged quite a bit.

I’ve contacted the person I bought it from to have them unregister the serial but found out they had bought it second hand as well, and have to track down the original owner.

So I’m assuming I’m gonna be on my own for this one. Any tips on how to check those connecters?

ouch!

  • remove all the knobs and the crossfader
  • undo all 6 screws from the faceplate
  • gently open (connections inside are quite tight, so lift faceplate slowly, front first)
  • iirc, you can see/touch all the cable connecters from here without any further disassembly

Thank you hanes, and bauer for your rapid responses.

Bauer,
Because I’m in class atm, how do the knobs and crossfader come off? A simple pull like the Akai midi products?

Regards

yep - they are quite stiff, but i have never needed to use any tools with the elektron boxes - fingers are enough.
you might use a plastic spudger or something if you need to lever them a little…

Took off the screws then only disconnected and reconnected the guessed LCD screen cable…

and it works again!

Just in time for the 3630 arriving Wednesday :+1:

Thanks guys.
