OT + Modular experts plz recommend me a MIDI TO CV interface + clock division options (HANDS ON/NO MENU DIVING)

Octatrack is my sequencer. I will add a modular rig and I am looking for an alternative to the Mutant Brain / cv.ocd. Is the Vermona qMI the best option?

This is what I would like in a Midi interface module:

  • regarding amount of HP: i don’t care if it takes up a lot of space
  • no menu diving, having to set it up on the computer, sysex uploading ect etc etc: hate it.
    I like to be able to do everything at least within the module itself. (you’ll need a computer to set up the Mutant Brain / cv.ocd, so I’d rather look for smthg else).

That’s why the Vermona QMI is now on the top of my shortlist. But being new to eurorack, maybe I am overseeing better/smarter options.

This is what I want to do
I like to sequence and clock with my Octatrack:

  • A DFAM (keeping it outside the eurorack case)
  • external gear (Tanzmaus, Vermona DRM…)
  • a modular rig for bass and percussion (think Verbos CO, Basimilus Iteritas Alter, Rings, Supercell, some weird sequencers…).
    I love evolving odd time, unpredictable sequences with repetitive elements but I also love screaming rough leads/basses.

The DFAM needs to receive clock + start/stop from the OT and I like to have it running at other time divisions than the main 4/4 of the clock. If the clock is 128BPM, I love to send for example 64BPM to the DFAM or a triplet feel.
I like to make these adjustments on the fly with the least amount of fiddly fiddly as possible.
Turn a knob: boom, different clock or sequence; that’s what I love.

Would it make way more sense to have something like a Little Nerd (see below) along with a simpler Midi interface module like the Doepfer A-190-3? If so, all recommendations welcome.

Or is there any other combination you think of that I should consider (like f.e. a beatstep in between the OT + a Little Nerd, if that’s possible, I dunno)
It is difficult, being uneducated about midi to cv to make these choices and I don’t like to buy something and then having to replace it in the future.

Expert Sleepers Factotum FH-2 is about the best you can get IMHO:

You can configure it through the module but it would be menu dive-y. It has a configuration app that’s easy enough to use. The FH-2 is incredibly powerful and highly expandable. It is also simultaneously a USB Host and Client.

I use ALM mMidi and Pam with the OT. Don‘t miss anything. Also use a dfam

On paper the Dubldeca is perfect (it was specifically designed for the Octatrack). I’ve never successfully gotten mine to work - it goes through its self-test fine and it recieves MIDI input fine, but it doesn’t actually do anything.

If you can find a used one that works it seems really good. Last I checked, it was about has hard to get a legit Teensy (much less two of them) as it is to get an STM-32 because of the supply chain problems, so DIY might not be so easy anymore.
